Is Half-Life 2 the most interesting game ever?

I my humble opinion, the Half-Life story is the most interesting story ever, in a pc game. The only other game stories I've found this interesting are the old graphic adventures (Monkey Island for instance). I would like peoples opinions on other games (first person shooters, or any really) that have drawn them in like Half-life 1/2?

Deus Ex & System Shock 2 were more interesting in terms of plot and characters and so forth, though in SS2 you get alot of it through voice recordings and e-mails.

hl2 is pretty interesting, but horror genre in games is more interesting

FF7 kept me just as interested, I think. Or so the little counter keeping track of how long I had played seemed to show, lol. The characters were extremely compelling.

Did anyone ever play Betrayal at Krondor, that old RPG made for the 386 in its heyday? IMHO, it may have been the interesting and enjoyable CRPG of its time. Of course, I may be biased; Raymond E. Feist's Magician is one of my favorite fantasy books of all time, and it was in his universe, written by him.

Deus Ex (Not Invisible War)
Freespace 1 & 2 (Never get tired of the story)
Final Fantasy 7, 8 & 10
Starcraft

I got into PC games a little late, so to speak (I'm 18 but was a console gamer until Dark Forces for DOS) so to me the HL saga is the most interesting, involving game ever. I don't like turn-based strategy games so never really got into FF. MGS is pretty high up there, but MGS2 is just too...too...complicated. and most of MGS was played out through cutscenes (which were pretty damn cool though).

I've always loved Lord of the Rings story...but those are books so you can't really compare.

The warwind serie was pretty cool, my best friends when i was a kid.

Meh, "interest" is in the eye of the beholder.

Dig ! - my favorite
S&M
Fallout 1&2
Beneath the steel sky (they are working on the sequel )

fallout 2 was cool, but nothing has got to FFX yet, best in my book!

Knights of the Old Republic
Final Fantasy VII and X
Deus Ex
Warcraft 3

Those games have great stories. Half Life 2 on the other hand is more like you're chucked into a world that has a big back story to it. The story that takes place as the game progresses actually didn't impress me nearly as much as just the whole situation around the player and small touches that finish the world off.

I fully agree that Half-Life has a very interesting storyline. I think the mysterious G-Man adds to most of the interest.
FinalFantasy VII had an awesome story too. No other FinalFantasy game has better story than this one IMO.
I dunno about MGS, it was great and all, but it had too long movie sequences...

vampire bloodlines, hahaha just got done, but i still dont know whats in the damn sarcaphagus!!! sorry if thats a spoiler for all u bloodsuckers.
