is inception about to kick ass?

yeah this has been on my radar for so long. I want to go opening weekend but I'm smart and wait for the theater to quiet down which will be one week after release

Definitely had my eye on it. Love shit about dreaming, but not sure how it will turn out.

Excellent. I dislike the "CHRISTOPHER NOLAN IS THE BEES KNEES BEST DIRECTOR OF ALL TIME!!!!1111" bandwagon but he IS a talented director and I've been looking forward to this because I absolutely love DiCaprio these days.

Everyone seems to think so.

The trailer looked like a bunch of bullshit to me but I will probably eat my words.

I for one think the trailer was perfect. show a little, keep people interested. Surprises are whats fun in life.....not seeing whats going to happen. I hate seeing trailers that show everything about the movie and every important scene.

I'm sure it's gonna be the best film of the summer, and a great blockbuster. But I'm more interested in seeing what Christopher Nolan does after Inception, because I really want to see him do something other than a blockbuster film for a change.

Also i'm getting a bit of a matrix vibe from it. i guess maybe its cuz of the idea of a team going into a virtual world on a mission.

I agree with that and it's not why I didn't like the trailer.

The trailer was: here's a bunch of weird shit and modern high-class actors. It looked kind of dumb to me. And then, oh wow, Christopher Nolan's name, gotta be good. I dunno, I don't like thinking THIS MOVIE WILL BE AWESOME just because of a bunch of names, so I'm probably reacting to that.

Is this the one with the city folding in on itself? Thats all I remember of the trailer, and it looked cool so if thats the same movie then I'll probably see it friday.

Yeah i can't wait for it personally :)

only films i need to see this summer now are:

inception
toy story 3
scott pilgrim vs the world
predators

Yeah me and the misses have been looking forward to this for AGES, first saw the teaser months ago and knew it would be epic, I mean it has Di Caprio, Cillian Murphy and Micheal Caine in it, three of my favorite actors and well we all know what Nolan can do as director so yeh D:

Think its going to be a tough race between this and Toy Story 3 in best films I've seen this summer. I personally think Shutter Island will be the best film of the year though.

Yes, it most definitely is. My anticipation for Inception had been growing steadily for the last few months, until recently when I was hit with the deluge of trailers and promotional TV spots. That's when I realised I couldn't wait, and I will be there on Friday at the first showing.

I'm very interested in seeing Nolan's take on this. His premise and concept seem to demand a high level of intellectual involvement, but he's set about delivering it as a summer blockbuster movie. It works, too. The exaggerated, absurd action set pieces inherent in these movies is taking place within the world of dreams, and it's there that you realise that this is possible and suddenly you believe what's happening on the screen.

I'm sure it's gonna be the best film of the summer, and a great blockbuster. But I'm more interested in seeing what Christopher Nolan does after Inception, because I really want to see him do something other than a blockbuster film for a change.

I'd agree with that. One of the reasons I didn't like Batman Begins was Nolan's inability to juggle his storytelling abilities and intellectual passion with the demands of the summer action movie. It was jarring, and I don't think there was ever a moment in the film where it worked. He couldn't align the two. He was trying to tell an emotional character story and play with all these different themes in ways that were interesting to him, but that was never allowed to blossom. The Dark Knight changed all that, and Nolan had obviously grown as a director and storyteller.

What I hope is that Inception is the culmination of his journey into this area of film, and that for Batman 3 and beyond, he tries territory a little different.

I think what Nolan and others have proved more than anything is that if you are going to have a film series, stick with the same director for the entire thing. I'm tired of having a great first film, and then having directors being juggled about so you end up with half arsed sequels that stupid people still go and watch and enjoy.

wow if samon likes it we might have the next Citizen Kane on our hands :p

I don't think he'll top The Dark Knight with Batman 3.

It's gonna be ****ing hard to top the only Oscar winning performance in a comic book film.

I personally thought Batman Begins was better than the Dark Knight.

That's a pretty ****ing terrible opinion.

I agree. He'll have to scale it back, and make it a more personal film, bringing Wayne to the forefront.

The Dark Knight was so good because Heath Ledger nailed the Joker, and his entire performance just lit the screen up. But I felt Bale's performance was just awful and that voice of his was really grinding me all the way through. It was a great film no doubt, but I preferred the storyline and its progression in Batman Begins.

I think that's a very serious misunderstanding of TDK's accomplishments.

Its not, I see all too well just how good TDK is, but I dunno I just prefered Batman Begins, maybe because it was the introduction into the amazing world that Nolan created and it took me by complete surprise, I also felt there were more 'wow' moments in it I suppose that made it stand out that little bit more than the TDK. At the end of the day they are both incredible films so it doesn't really matter.

Looking forward to this, probably going to see it this Friday or Saturday.

Yeah i genuinely can't wait for this. Being a bit of a sucker for visuals, on that basis it looks amazing. And judging by TDK, i shouldn't be disappointed. The actors are fantastic too so that shouldn't let it down. If anything would, it would be the plot, which in fairness i know nothing about but i should hope it will be AMAZING.

Begins was good but it was also a bit more silly and formulaic than TDK.
It wasn't a very good introduction either since it was basically one second he's normal every day billionaire Bruce Wayne and the next he's Batman donning the suit and kicking ass.

TDK moved past the basics and made a very deep and supremely made super hero film.

I'm definitely interested in Inception just because it looks so damn slick... and I've been a sucker for Leo these days.

I'm not trying to speak for Samon here, but these posts are really ****ing annoying.

Haha, a Nolan take on Superman? Hell, after Superman Returns, I'd go for it. I love that he's committed to making the third Batman film a proper conclusion, too.

I agree that Nolan's reputation is a little overblown, even though I've loved everything I've seen of his. I actually don't recall Batman Begins very well, but I know I had the same issue with Dark Knight and Prestige - they can both feel very packed at times. I don't want to say they're rushed because the care and attention to detail is still there, I guess it's more to do with the pacing. Nolan seems to like to pack his scripts with a lot of plot and dialogue, which is fine since it's what he does, but there are times when his films lack for a bit of breathing room.

It's baffling to me, because I'm equally vocal about what I do like.

I honestly cannot wait to see this.

I've booked a midnight showing for this Friday. I would be going opening day, but I can't quite manage it.

I think it might have something to do with you being very condescending about other peoples opinions.

But yeah Inception looks great. I don't think it's that Leo has gotten better lately, it's that he no longer looks like a ****ing baby and taken more bad ass roles. I personally thought he was pretty good in Aviator. Also people like mind**** movies like Shutter Island. Even if they don't get it.
"What, so, was it all like, in his head the whole time?" Something I think this movie will deliver on also.

I'll be watching it tomorrow I guess, what a shit summer for movies. Last time I went to the cinemas was Kick-Ass, which was awful.

Mixed feelings, but overall, very good film.

My biggest complaints
-There were far too many gun fights. I felt this was a contrived attempt to add excitement to a drama film, for all the morons seeing it because it was "Directed by the guy who directed the Dark Knight".
The only time I really enjoyed a gun fight scene was when Gordon-Levitt's character is in the hotel.

-There was not enough focus on DiCaprio's wife and their alternate reality. By far the most interesting aspect to the film was the dream world he and his wife made, and the issue of DiCaprio's subconscious recreating her in his dreams after her supposed death.
Perhaps they avoided fleshing out her character because she basically provided as the antagonist of the film.

-The Asian guy is wayyyyy too hard to understand. Difficult accent and way too quiet.

That... was a great movie.
