hey guys, i was thinking that some time in the future when i finished guitar lessons i could sing and play the guitar (or any other stringed instrument)

is it hard to sing and play the guitar? once you've dominated both of course. is it like playing the right hand and left hand like in piano, only your voice is your right hand and your hands are the left hand? lol

Yes it's hard. But it depends on how complex the song you're playing is. If you're trying some Hendrix solo and trying to sing at the same time you can forget it.

Yes/no. But its easy for me to say yes as I play bass and sing, and playing bass isn't always as complex as guitar.

Thus, Hendrix never sang while solo-ing. Doubt anyone could pull that off.
Singing while playing rhythm guitar isnt so bad, thats what most singer/guitarists do I think. Cant think of a lead guitarist/singer off the top of my head.

There are some lead guitarists who also sing. Of course they don't sing during solos, but for example Alexi Laiho from Children of Bodom does some solo-like fills while singing. And most rhythm parts he plays while singing are also pretty complex

Yeah, but it depends how complex the melody of what you're singing is too. If the singing is time with whenever you play a string.

yeah, i assumed it would be kind of hard to play a riff that isn't synchronized with the notes of the vocals. i guess you'd have to dominate both first, then slowly practice them together.

Takes some time, but just keep practicing. I started off having to sing the same as what I was playing, but given time I broke away and sure enough I became another Cobain wannabe.
