...or does anyone else wish they hadn't confirmed that Hl3 was planned. I mean, i suppose we would have guessed eventually from the ending in HL2 (which will likely involve something like the last, not really an ending, just a way of closing it until the next game).

Anyway, the fact that i know Hl3 is coming, kind of spoils the excitement of it. Remember all those years of speculation about Hl2? Well, we wont have that the same, i mean, obviously we can speculate on what the game will be, but we know its coming. I don't know, maybe I'm just being weird but i wish i didn't know.

Nah, it's not a problem for me. I mean we know absolutely nothing about HL3. And we probably won't know anything until e3 2008 .. by which time I'm gona be 25 and married .. ahhh  :x

I never really cared.

We won't be waiting five years for HL3, Lone.

Yeah, they'll probably be just using an updated Source Engine. Probably.

Also, they'd probably be just as tight lipped about Half Life 3 as they were about Half Life 2.

I agree with you Farrow, it almost spoils it knowing that the ending will only be a closed ending until HL3

I suppose you're all right really.

Oh and Lone...thats quite a scary thought really. I mean, i never really thought about how old i will be when Hl3 comes out.

LOL ok :)

I hope that by that time I'll still be interested in video games. I can already imagine joining the forums on halflife3.net and everyone is gona go like "WOAH! You are old enough to have played Half-Life 1?"

I hate this thread, whenever i see that:
Is it just me...
I feel like answering:
Yes its just you.

Lone:
Are you old enough to have played HL1? :p:p

Halflife2 isn't out yet and you're thinking about HL3? GOD!!! lol :)

I cant wait until HL3 is out :p:p

EDIT: I can because im going to be playing HL2, but still :p:p

I know im going to be interested in gaming when im 25. By that time, computers and playing games in particular will be a lot more mainstream.

I will probably still be interested in gaming until i die :p
(ok, maybe not that long but a VERY long time)

If it is another 5 years I will be... 18!?!?!? Wow! But still there will be MODs and fun fun fun.

I don't see why i wont be interested in gaming until i die....I mean obviously its not going to be my priority. I'd rather spend time with my family but we and especially people being born now are in a wondrous era, where we are surrounded by computers and the games they allow us to play. We have been born into the computer age and its given us such a unique opportunity in life.

I'll be interested in games for a very long time... if all goes to plan, I'll be working in the game industry as early as next year.

Farrow that was deep bro. And so true. I gained a higher level of respect for you. We were born into what is probably the greatest times the world has seen. The futures gonna suck, the past already sucked, but right now, it's juuuust right. ;)

I don't know about that - the present doesn't look much brighter than the past or the immediate future. There's still a lot of violence in the world, and consumer culture is simply disgusting - far too many people are living their lives not realising just how much they are slaves of the society they've been brought up in. The immediate future is looking very "americanised", if you know what I mean (in terms of consumerism and commercialisation getting worse) and, sadly enough, it doesn't seem like all this violence in the world will end until something truly cataclysmic happens, but I'm sure nobody hopes it will come to that.

I think things will start looking up in about 20-30 years - breakthroughs in technology will hopefully lead to us restoring the environment instead of destroying it, and hopefully by then, people will have stopped blowing each other to bits for the sake of holy wars.

Technologically, though, I definately agree that now is a great time to be young - technology has advanced more in the last 20 years than in the hundred before that. We're living in the age of revolution, advancement, and possibility.

Doh, I've done it again, getting all off-topic.

Well, I do agree that the announcement of HL3 would have been better left unsaid. It would have kept us guessing right until the end of HL2 as to whether or not everything would come to a conclusion.
