Is Maple Story Good?

I don't want to download it, it'll take forever on dial-up, but my friend (who also has dial-up) says this multiplayer game runs fast on dial-up, but have any of you played it, is it any good? I don't trust my friend, because we get into alot of arguements about games, I usually disagree with him about if a game is good or not, you guys (for the most part) usually give me good advice about games. I don't want to waste precious downloading time on something that's going to suck ass, which is where your opinions come in.

My friend says it's a pretty in-depth side-scrolling RPG, and I do like RPGs..

Really, it's fun for about a week, then you realize you're playing the most repetitive, pointless RPG ever.
 
RS and MS both run great for dial-up users
And if you get into MS you can get some really kewl powers at like lvl 70
But if you don't like doing the same thing over and over again several hours a day for a few months, you might not like it.
But its probably worth a try

I need something to hold me over until Christmas (PS3!), and I'm used to playing PC games that look like shit, look at my sig for PC specs, I can't play any good games, I'm stuck playing games from 1998-2003, a change of pace would be great. I've also been hankerin for a good RPG lately, I might be getting KOTOR 1 tomarrow.
 
RS = Runescape

If youve never played it, it offers a lot more diversity than maplestory and runs fine on dial up. You also don't have to download anything, it runs through your browser.
It's a massive rpg too
 
I played the old-school RuneScape, too. None of this fancy, all-black sky 3D stuff.

They changed it? I played it pretty much until I got DSL, and my mind was opened to all sorts of (more) fun online games.
 
Yeah, it's all blocky 3D now. Honestly for a free game, it doesn't look all that bad.

The above post was typed with no sources whatsoever but was entered to keep you from gaining an interest in such a god awful game.
 
Actually RS has updated regularly for the last six or seven years... so theres quite a bit of content - especially for members
I had a friend who could take 42hp in one hit with his setup, which eint bad considering players cant really get more than 99
He was a pussy and never PVP'd tho
 
At $5 a month, rofl.

...I know people who had subscribed to the members.
 
Get KOTOR + The Sith Lords and Deus Ex for a good PC RPG fix. :D
 
I'll second Knights of the Old Republic - very cool.
Then you can decide if you want The Sith Lords.
Never played Deus Ex.
 
There are a few other open beta MMORPG's out right now:

Flyff and Rappelz

They're both the usual crappy Korean-style games like Ragnarok etc, but they might waste a few days away before you get bored.
 
I want KOTOR but no stores have it for sale (#1, and #2) I was going to borrow it off of my friend but he lost it :\

Deus Ex just got played to death by me... And that god-awful sequel... holy crap... TERRIBLE!
 
Maple Story is awesome. I advise that you dl it, and then spend tons of money on cash items. TONS OF MONEY, TONS!


Just spend a lot, and you shalt be contributing to the construtction of the Free Republican Armies.
 
I knew people who stayed off school to play runescape. :|
