I was playing Halo on my Leadtek 6600GT (factory overclocked to 550/1125), when I started to notice artifacting. I alt-tabbed out and checked the gfx temperature and it said 100 degrees. Is that a bit excessive? I didn't get artifacting on 3dmark05 or HL2/CS:S, not sure what the temperature was in those games. The normal operating temperature while idle is around 65-70 degrees. The card shouldn't be artifacting at stock speeds right? I got the card second hand, just installed it a couple of hours ago.

yea i get artifacts to sometimes not a big deal if its like 1 or 2 specks

Often its more than 1 or two specks though, its like there'll be 10 artifacted polygons on the screen. I'll post screenshots later, I'm going to bed now.

have u tried to turn the clock down?
I turned the clock down to 500/1000 and the temperature still hits 98 degrees.

open case
get a fan on/near it
RMA if it keeps up

Wow I opened the case up and the temps dropped to 82 degrees under load. I think my case has a ventilation problem.

Sounds like it could be the problem. What do you have for intake and outtake?

According to PC mag the fan in my PC runs slowly to reduce sound (its a prebuilt Dell com, wasn't designed to hold my 6600GT).

Fans, fans and more fans sounds like a good solution oh and a cool liquid nitrogen cooling system....or not your choice...

My 6600gt idled at about 50-55, so I think something maybe wrong here in terms of cooling.

just keep your tower in a deep freezer or a refridgerator

I guess I have to play with the case open until I get better cooling.
