Just curious about a little something, thought I'd ask you guys...
Whenever I leave my pc alone for a while (after about 10 mins) the cpu light starts to go nuts, and it sounds as if its working in the background. Then when I come back and start to do stuff again, it goes back to normal...
Question: Whats it doing? :)

I believe its System Idle Process. Im not 100% sure on that though you could easily google it and see what comes up. If you Hit Ctrl + Alt + Del youll see what imt alking about. Another thing it could be spyware.

mine does that every now and then and i think its prob. system idle or some prog. opening up in the background

could be spyware, or just another process starting up that runs during idle time.

Yeah probably an anti-virus / anti-spyware running in the background that turns itself on whenever you're not doing anything. Nothing to worry about unless your PC starts running slow.

Its definitely not spyware or anything, I guess it could be Norton Antivirus or that System Idle Process thing...
Thanks anyway, just wondering.

if it doens't happen in safe mode or all your processes are disabled, it's a good bet it's a program.

Hazar.exe? :O
if thats the case...i suggest a full format :dork:

Just blow it up as a punishment.

I believe windows has itself set to defrag your hdd during idle times by default.

I know you can set that, but i'm pretty sure it's also set by default.

System Idle Process is always running, it uses up what isn't being used by the CPU.

You computer doesn't sound so evil.. Mine starts in them iddle of the night! Without me doing anything! I turn it off... wait a few minutes... frrrrrrrrrrrrr.. The CPU fan starts again! It's living it's own life!

Your computer sounds like it's planning a bank robbery, nothing truly evil..

my freind fixed that by hitting th PSU hard with a metal hammer.

If you take out your psu and mobo, and take it to bed with you, it will behave, give it a couple backhands, i did, it works!
excuse me, im not 100% sober....

The CPU light? Do you mean the IDE light that shows harddrive and CDrom activity? Do you have it set to Defrag your machine when idle?

Erm...the one that has a symbol above it that looks like a cylinder ....
How do I check if it's set to Defrag? I probably set it myself sometime long ago and forgot -_-

hmmm mine is doing that now for some reason and i cant open IE

Could be downloading updates to install too. Not sure if you have it set to do that or not.
