Is the Half-Life 2 beta taboo?

And was wondering what exactly is the problem with the beta? Could somebody fill me in?

Its was an illegal leak caused by someone hacking into Valve's servers and copying secure data. Distributing and discussing that kind of content on the site is condoning the actions of the man who hacked into Valve's computers and we do not promote such things.
