I'm currently writing up an essay on racism and i showed my dad it, and he said the term race is 'racist' i don't see how? He can't even give me a reason :\ enlighten me hl2.net...

No, but I perfer the term "people". As in were all humans. But no its not.

That's what i put in my essay Atomic, " We are all humans, Color or anything like that should never interfere with it' Is that racist?

Yes. You think only humans are equal. :p

No it isn't.People that are racist's suck. All humans should be treated equally escept for some certain people we hate to mention in this world. So the answer is no but some people think it does.

Race is merely the classification or category by language, so no, it's not racist.

Racism is a broad generalization about one or more people because of there skin color.

"Race" is not racist.

For example:
All black people are rich. - Racist. Not all of them are rich.
All black people are gay. - Racist. Not all of them are gay.
That man is black(Talking about a Black Man) - Not Racist. That man is in fact Black, and you are not making a broad generalization.

No, it isn't.
The statement 'All Black people are rich' is not racist, it's merely a false statement. If it was said with some kind of spite, or the belief that those people are rich becuase they're black, then that might be racist.

"Race" is a silly word, I think, but not genuinely spiteful.

It makes little sense to divide humans almost arbitrarily into biological groups...but as a catch-all term for ethnic issues it works.

We genuinally don't refer to "a race" these days anyway - I mean who says "the black race" or "the japanese race"? Rather, we use it in the context of "racial problems" or "race riots".

According to that logic, the term "racist" is racist.

I think we are all getting a tad too sensitive when we cant even describe people outside a certain ethnicity without being called racist...

I suppose it could be thought of as racist, in the sense that by using the word, you imply a clear definition between peoples of different ethnic backgrounds.

But you'd be retarded to say that using the term "race" was just clear cut racism. I mean, we all ARE different, and it seems heavily based on the regions we came from.

Write an essay about how everyone hates racists but know one knows what one is due to the overuse of the term.

Personally, I hate the word 'race'. What constitutes 'race'? "The term race describes populations or groups of people distinguished by different sets of characteristics, and beliefs about common ancestry." Aren't we all Homo Sapiens? Why do we need to hold on to what happened at one time in the past? We are people, and that should be enough in todays world.

We have to have races, if not, what would the racists do all day?

ofcourse not silly... we all belong to different races. discrimination based on racism is bad... unless its positive discrimination like governments reserving seats in universities for minorities ...

if only more people could think like that :( ...

Some people would argue that isn't exactly a good thing

I think there should be more racists. That way we can make a special "happy-camp" for them in the middle of US Air Force shooting range, Nevada, USA.

Scientifically, there's only one human race, so it's actually wrong to call black people a race of their own.

It implies a difference between people that isnt real, and I suppose in many ways that could incite racism. But I think to call it a racist word is incorrect, being as it only could incite it.

what if someone mention race as "I saw the F1 race" the that person is racist?

No, it isn't.

No. Racism doesn't have to be hateful. It's just a broad generalization.

All Black people are piss poor ****s. That's obviously a false statement. But it's racist, because it's a broad generalization about a person/group of people because of there race. Racist statements don't have to be hateful. It's just that you don't take offense to them, unless they are hateful.

maybe not in America or the western world, not now anyways , but there was once a time where members of minorities were not allowed access to universities solely based on their "race" and regulations such as these ensured that at least a certain percentage of them got in.

I hate affirmitive action. If we are going to get rid of racism and discrimination, you have to completely stop it not move it.

what if someone mention race as "I saw the F1 race" the that person is racist?

F1 is a steaming sack of shit.

"UMG LOL WE HAVE DOWNFORCE SO WE TAKE TURNS FAST K? UMG PASSING? NAH!"
