In the hardware thread you guys said it was with the demo (you never mentioned anything about the game)

but in the instruction booklet and on their help page here it says that it isn't compatible. And my computer does show the symptoms of not having a compatible graphics card...

I have a Club3D Ati X850XT and it runs just dandy. It's combined with a AMD Athlon 64 3500 and 2x 512MB dual channel RAM. Very smooth experience, except when starting a new map.

So are you running bf2? Or about to try?
If your x850xt doesn't run bf2, then im a nazi buddha.

Do you know anything about the X850 at all? Its not all that much different than the X800, thats why its still using the X8xx line. There shouldn't be any reason why it wouldn't be compatiable. If you have a gfx card using SM 1.4 or 2.0 you are fine, reason why GF4's can't is because they don't use 1.4 or 2.0(forgot which one exactly) so they have to use shader hacks to get the cards to run correctly.

Oh. Well there you go, I know nothing about my card :P

I can run the game sometimes, I'm lucky to get it started.

:| Well, Nvidia is the more probable choice if you want a graphics card solely for this game.

What else might be causing this problem?

Hdd, cpu, memory; they all work as one together, when one thing mess up or needs fixing, everything else could be affected.

hmmm....thta's why the game is buggier on the 7800gtx than it is on the x850xtpe? And yes i have both. Both have issues, but the texture corruption is far worse on the nvidia card than it is on the ATI card. ATI card is slower to get to speed tho...so take your pic. Personally, i think the nvidia card has better image quality.

Quit being a :P fanboy.

Fanboys protecting other fan boys, are they?

I laugh at the human brain, and how it singles out objects to like more than others.

What 'symptoms' are these? Sorry buddy, but you've run up a whole page of thread talking about your problems, and we don't know what they are!

Because DICE was too lazy to update the compatible list, and they would think if you had a brain cell you would know all newer cars would work with the game.

Yeah, tell me that when I'm still having trouble running Quake on my comp...

I guess the 7800 is just too new for its own good...

Oh, well the symptoms were on that page I linked to. Anyway what happens is I'll open BF2, the first splash screen comes up. screen goes black as if it is going to go the game, but then it just ends up going back to the desktop.

I think I've found the problem.

I reinstalled BF2, started up fine, worked fine. Closed and opened it a few times, still worked fine. set AA to 2x and cannot start it up. My x850xt cannot handle 2x AA :P

there wouldn't happen to be a way to change the AA settings or any of the settings from outside of the game is there? :P

UPDATE: seems like if it crashes back to desktop enough times the game will reset it's settings or something because I can open it again and the settings were at default.
