Is there a such thing as a memory optimizer?

I've always seen a lot of advertisements for memory optimizing programs in the past... claiming to be miracles to boost your memory, actively defragment it or what have you.

Question is... do these programs really have any basis? Do they actually work and work well?

I'm still stuck with 1024mb of pc3200 DDR ram, and I notice a lot of issues when playing games sometimes, but mostly my problem is after I come out of a game and I computer becomes incredibly sluggish in response, and sometimes stays that way until I reboot it.

Would these programs help me free up the memory so that my computer runs just as well before entering a game, after I've been playing one for a long time and exited?

Any recommendations on the best ones in your opinion?

Once again Asus, I expected an answer to come through from you swiftly, and you delivered!

Much appreciated.

I got the same problem (system sluggish after I play a game for a while, except mine usually doesn't stay for more then 15 minutes), and even though I didn't ask - thanks.

But cleaning Prefetch folder every now and then (Two to three months) and deleting the content of the folder (Not the actual folder, but whats inside of it) will help your OS loading time. If you install and uninstall stuff on normal basis, A (habitual installer/uninstaller) like me needs to clean prefetch folder and registry once in a while.

Note. After deleting the content of the Prefetch folder and reboot system; The first time the system boots may seem to take longer but, the second, the third and thereafter the system will come back to it's normal loading time, if not faster.

Take Care.

Asus has more computer bookmarks than the IBM Library.
