Is there something wrong? (Benefactors)

Hi,

I a so frustrated thought I'd contact a forum to see if anyone can help...

...I have had HL2 for ages but gave up as the OS errored on the Benefactors level (13).

Basically when you 'take the ride' in the prison coffin thing the sound cuts out for 2 seconds and when you land in the prison cell. You've still got all of your weapons and the Cell is locked. Obviously the cell is ment to be open and you're ment to have had you weapns removed but get the 'heavy' gravity gun.

When you press 'Esc' or try and view any menus the grey panels that open up say "untitled" where they should save things like "options" etc., and there's no content.

I have an ATI 9800 and could only think there may be conflicts some how. Tried the obvious - updating drivers, maing sure Steam is totally up-to-date, even played the level rom the beginning on lower settings just in case... But, nothing!

I revisited the game and this time I got past the usual error. Got the grav gun, throw some bads guys about etc.

I have used walkthroughs and have come to the conclusion someting still isn't right.

I can't get to the energy field thing....

I have attached to screen grabs.

There is a monitor on the wall. You can go around a corridor to it's left to get to it but there is a field blocking you way.

If you turn around you go up a small corridor. From here you can see where you want to go but there is a little fence in your way.

Little enough to jump over I thought, but I can't jump now I have the new gun - is this normal? Is the gun too heavy to jump?

What the hell is going on!?

Help me!?

I don't know where the first pic is but in the area in the second pic your not supposed to go that way. From the position you were when you took the pic turn to your left and that should be the right way. However that is very odd that you can't jump. I'm no expert when it comes to technical errors and it sounds like you've already tried anything i'd think of. Like the other guy said do a search you're bound to turn somthing up.

Actually it's not that odd, I had that bug

I didn't realise it was one for ages

What I did to solve it was to go back to a save pre getting into that thing and jump aoround before getting in, never window out during the voyage, and then jump around the moment I got out

Don't know what part of that worked but it did

However combined with you other problem I don't know what's going on

Had the same problem.
Replay it, but this time when, jump in the same moment the crate opens.
Worked for me.

don't save you game once your on the ride. once you've got the gravity gun, then try jumping. I had that same problem

I have heard many had this problems.. some of em were my freinds actually

In that first picture you're supposed to jump over the fence and continue
In the second from the the view of the picture you are supposed turn right, there is an open way there

You know, when I saw Salad double post, I was more than certain. That I'd see your "Don't Double Post" campaign.

Oh yes - I encountered this bug too! The thing is that if you just "no-clip", you can't jump for the rest of the level or the next one. My advice would be to just start the level over again.

restart steam worked for me.

After I built a ramp for the whole rest of the game everytime I needed to jump.
