Is this a good deal for RAM?

That does look like a good deal. That's pretty cheap for such high quality RAM, Kingston HyperX is a very good brand. Go for it.

does your motherboard support dual channeling? if so then its abad to put 3 sticks of ram because then most mobos today cancel the dual channel and do the old way, its a good rpice, and it would be kind of bad to mix and match memeory speeds? not as in hurt the computer, just not as high performance as you may expect

so what you guys are saying is that i should do 2x512 or 4x512?
dont mix and mathc? ok. i guess i dont need 1.5GB...

It can be complicated but maybe this will help you understand.
4 banks of memory is the most these PCs can take of regular memory, except Registered memory, before performance hits start.
Banks is not the number of slots but a grouping of memory chips on the sticks.

1GB stick = 2 banks
512MB stick = 2 banks
256MB stick = 1 bank

So that means you can have 4x256MB, 2x512MB, or 2x1 GB sticks and your PC should perform OK. If you go over that then the performance will look like it did in those benchmarks for 1.5GB and 2GB machines.

Ok thx. SO here's my current memory:

Kingston HyperX PC4000 1x512MB

Obviously, I need another 512 stick to complement that.

Kingston HyperX PC 4000 or PC3200?

The difference between the two is $90. I don't overclock, but people have told me my 2600+ is capable of 3200+ speeds and I have proper memory, but I am a noob at overclocking and I don't think my Shuttle AN35N-Ultra could handle it.

I'm worried the most because I'm getting really lame FPS on reccomended settings in the first place. I get around 20 FPS irefights on 32 player servers and 40 player servers. Otherwise I get around 30 FPS for 24 player servers.

PC3200 is fine. Unless you are OCing that is what your Kingston HyperX is running at anyway.

changed me mind i am OC'ing ;) guess ill be getting another $180 stick of RAM... yikes.

That AN35N-Ultra is a pretty darn good clocker. I got my 2500+ running at 3200+ specs and beyond easily on that board. I used 2x512 Mushkin Black Level 1's on there running at 420Mhz. Sandra says I got more room on the memory, but I need to try to keep the rig cooler somehow.
