First off my comp sux: AMD XP 2400, 640MB SDRAM (not DDR), and a FX5200 :( Now to the good stuff... I will be building my dream machine pretty soon but I need a little help from something called Christmas to help finish it off... What I am thinking of doing is this: Buy a X800 XT PE or Gainward 6800 GT (If I have enough I will go w/ XT PE) and then buy a TT Tsunami case and a OCZ 420W PSU... So for aboot 2 months I will play HL2 w/: AMD XP 2400, 640MB SDRAM, and a X800 XT PE... How will that fare w/ HL2? I know the gfx card helps but my system will be a huge bottleneck... Then when Christams rolls around I will get: AMD 64 3500, Socket 939 mobo, 1GB OCZ PC-3700 (DDR-466) RAM, and a WD Raptor... Tell me what u think... :bounce:

Well the ram's not great but the cpu is decent, should play pretty well especially with an X800 XT PE.

The XP 2400 and 640MB RAM will be just temporary until I get the rest...

I think it'll be ok. You may experience a little slow-down when the action heats up, but nothing that is going to cripple your framerate.
