I'm on 600K broadband and I've just been getting a freakish download speed.

The download speed hovered around 2.4 - 2.6 mb/s. I've included an image, note I did almost 600 mb's in just under 5 minutes.

Considering I usually get 72k/sec.

I've had up to 12MB/s on DC++ before on my 3Mbps connection and when I went to check the file, It was corrupted.

hmm .. google has all the internet downloaded in its cache .. although only html's no photos or vids (aka documents only .. no multimedia)

I remember downloading on DC++ @ several hundred megabytes a second. That was just a minor bug miscalculation ofcourse.

my mate knows someone (when i saw "know" i mean he knows a freind who has talked to him or something) who managed to hack his own connection.. he now has 700 mb/s at all times. He probally got his connection cut though, im sure his provider noticed someone sapping a chunk of their bandwith...

When Napster used to be all the rage and I got my Cable Modem (Which was only a 64kps one), I managed to download songs at a huge speed. Like 3 mb in 30 seconds, but it was only with Napster.

I was using an ntl Modem.

The highest I have ever got is 7.9 MB/S but it was at around 11 at night.

From the screenshot, that's an apparent mean downstream bit rate of 16,660 kbps. That's not impossible at all. I'd bench it though. www.broadbandreports.com
