I'm going to college right now I just find this really ****ed up. In colleges they're supposed to give you a student id. They are supposed to make up a random number, right, RIGHT?!? Well my college uses you social security number. What's the big fuss then hool10 you might ask? Well usually the administration wants your SS# to add courses, or look up anything. They also want you to say the SS# out loud within clear earshot of everybody in the room. Right now as I type this, a guy just said his social security number. What if I put his SS# on this forum as a form of identity theft? Am I the only one who thinks this is wrong? My parents say it's wrong but just say "go with the flow". It's really frustrating hearing at least 5 different SS# of real people. :flame:

its skynet.

No but why dont you just wisper it instead? wisper is your friend

Tried that one time but the person was like "what did you say?" It's hard to whisper it trying to keep it secret when the person is like "WHAT IS YOU SS# PLEASE?!" And your like "8549886895460". Meanwhile some weirdo is listening intently on what you say.

So if you steal someone's SS, what can you do with it?

OHHH lots of things! But what you should do is write it down on a piece of paper and show it to them, if they dont accept that, just tell them to shove it up their ass because you dont want other mofos stealing your identity, take up up to 'the man' if you have to because thats just unacceptable, atleast you and the person you're telling should be in a private room or something.

i have SS card in my wallet right now, along with my bank account info card, my id, student ID, and credit cards. If somebody stole my wallet right now, they could pretty much be me...all they're missing is my birth certificate, and I keep that in my shoe.

My social security (we call it resident registeration number, social security number is for the ex-cons) number was stolen many, many times, and I had to go on numerous tripsto the police station to set it straight.

So, do what DEATHMASTER said.

HAH! Stolen.

Thats another symbol of the hypocrisy we face in today's society.

They say keep your social a secret, but you cant get an ATM card without your social, let alone a car loan or a double bacon cheeseburger...

Yeah here is another: 3498573969376873. You actually believe that is a real SS#? ;) Yeah I did think once to write my SS# on a piece of paper but what if I somehow lost that? My SS# card belongs in my safety deposit box and nowhere else. Only when I apply for a job interview or something.

Do I look stupid? :rolling:

a bit?

My college also used to have our SS# to be our student ID's too, up until this past summer. Now, its a randomly generated number.

Your concerns are correct - it isn't right for them to use your SS# as your student ID and it is very risky. You should bring up the issue with the administration.

So, what can you do with someone's SS number?

Complain to the administration. If that gets you no where, local news or something.

News stations lap this crap up like a dog does a minty fresh toilet bowl.
