Isn't NTL nice?

AOL? Are you sure you want to openly admit you use AOL?

*laughs and points* HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

ps. ROFL!

I don't care what you use, this isn't a broadband poll... just letting the disheartened NTL users know that good things are coming their way.

fingers crossed.

Stupid caps :(

NTL: Technology Screwed. Still, I suppose it's better than nothing!

Gaah caps! I don't think I download that much but still..I like the fact that I can. 2mb sounds sweet though! :D

That's the thing with caps ... everyone is making such a fuss over them... 30GB a month translates to 1gb a day. That is a huge amount, unless you were trying to download 1gb+ a day, you would never actually surpass it... The only other way to exceed 1gb a day is to be a warezmonkey for films/large apps/games and download atleast one of these a day, per day, over the month.

The only reason these caps are in place is to stop people creating warez servers that are constantly hammered by monkeys. There's no other reliable way to do that without using caps.

Fair enough, especially now I see what the reason is. But like you said, 1gb day is bloody loads. I think on average I download about 50mb a day :p

...said the cs-playing warezmonkey with a warning limit...

wooohoo

3Mbps Download—300Kbps Upload—40GB Monthly Cap

sod the monthly cap wont effect me, the upload is what im happy about, finally something usable lol

I don't play CS you dumbass. But, yes, I'm a warezmonkey, ooh-ooh-ahh-ahh.

I'd leave NTL.

OK, so you just pimp a sprays website in your sig for the hell of it.

Well, you're the minority of newbs that care about a download cap, so you should expect to pay more to use a service that doesn't have the caps.

You have to pay for them warez somewhere along the line.

Ever heard of Half-life: Deathmatch? Are you really this dumb?

And yes, I would pay more for no cap.

CS / HLDM / its all the same, its all argumentative idiot fodder for people like you.

Yet you have over 2000 posts on a forum for a linear game where you blaze through shooting at almost everyone you see.

And I barely play HLDM, since you don't have to play it to make sprays for it. If it's too dumb for you, maybe you should go play Masters of Orion III, because obviously more commercial games are beneath you.

Anyway, I've got to go play a trendy deathmatch lovers game demo called Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory.

I'm on 1GB a day, but It's lame because it's shared between 6 of us.

And they don't give you a tool to measure how much you've used.

I feared I ran over limit a couple of times, but nothing happened though.

And 3GB cap at 1Mbps is totally not acceptable - you will use your download limit really fast if running at full capacity.

Does anyone know what they do if you exceed your caps?
I think they just send a letter warning you the first time.

Yeah, weird that. 1mb/s users get 1GB a month yet 2mb/s users get 30gb a month :|

They're trying to make people pay more....

Not at all - A lot of users only use the net for emails or web browsing - 1gb a month is plenty for this. NTL simply don't want people paying for a service they don't need.

Hey cool, i've got warnings.

Yes, but even then it's a huge leap :O Maybe 10GB less would be understandable. And anway, damn you! Your from somewhere in Scandanavia where it seems everyone has 100mb connections! Damn you! Damn you to hell!

hurray, a 44kilobit increase in the upload speed :(.
hurray, a 1.5megabit increase in the download speed :).

JUST like one of my housemates. I told him about the 40Gb cap and got particularly despondant "What's the point of having a 3Mb connection if you can't download the whole internet?" He was exaggerating slightly, but still: BUT SOME DVDs OF YOUR OWN!!! ARGH!

It's about getting what you do want faster, not simply wanting more things because you can get them faster.

If the government went crazy and bought everyone ferraris, we wouldnt expect them to raise the speed limit ... but we'd all have bucketloads of 'safer overtaking' ... and we'd use it too ;)

I know people (namely my old folks) that only use the net for email and net access ... broadband is great for them because they dont need to dial up, and its fast. It doesn't mean that a 1gb a month cap will affect them at all, and they can expect to pay a lot less because they dont upload or download that much.

For gamers, 1gb a month is way too low, so we should expect to pay more for something more realistic, and 30/40gb a month is fine too. We do upload and download a lot more, after all.

Give a warez monkey a 4mb/s line and you can pretty much guarantee it will be maxing both uploads and downloads constantly. Is it right that these people should only expect to pay as much as the above two? Course not. Screw the bastards.

Precisely. He gets stuff simply because he can, not because he needs them or wants them especially. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't downloaded a lot of music and even a film or two, but I'd never download a whole album and I do buy films on DVD. He, on the other hand, is a digital magpie. Not that I'd judge him or be pissed off at him or anything...

Aren't they the same thing? You will use up your bandwidth when you download a lot.

Oh!...How i agree with that so bad. NTL are the only company ever to have put the phone down on me because they could'nt fix my problem. :|

I have never had a problem with Ntl's service, well, just the mere fact that it takes forever to get through. My record is 4 hours on the phone to them, on hold, just waiting in the queue. Luckily, it was a free line.

Thankfully I've never had to deal with their customer service in almost a year, no problems yet. But yeh, I've heard a lot of negative feedback about it.

I've found a lot of the negative feedback about nasty customer services comes from people who are nasty on the phone to them. Swearing and complaining and bitching and then doing the same on newsgroups and forums. I've always been right with them and realised their just doing a job and its 99% likely not the persons fault on the other end. Their just doing what their told, so blaming them doesn't achieve anything, except for them to take their time, cause why should they make an effort for someone who's being rude.

Very true, TDE. I'm a nice guy with customer services, if you have a laugh with the person on the other end usually they have a laugh with you and even insult their own management. I've not had a problem with NTL support, I've just heard of their bad reputation, not experienced it.

Infact the last trouble I had with NTL, I made a call (got straight through to support) and an engineer was round within 3 mins of me hanging up, installing a microfilter. Problem solved. That was over 2 years ago and i've not had a single problem since.

I am a bt customer,

and I have 1mb---->2mb soon

but 15g is not fooking enough, dam

I think i may find another isp
