Hello,
My name is Tk and im from Gamer's Israeli gaming community.
When D3 was first showed, the IL community been Speachless... the gfx that was showed left us amazed.
Then one day Hl2 came.
Well hl1 was allways a fav of the IL gamers, and the next chapter showing one of the most physicly graphicly and just OWN our eyes :D.

Some days ago, when it was announced that Doom 3 is coming out in 40 days and hl2 will be shortly out after that, a topic in the gamer forums was made.

The topic was : What are you going to buy? HL2 OR D3
An outrage was created.
(Israel is one of the most large warez country in the world, due for game prices)
People who played both "betas" of both games say that they want hl2 more then d3.

Clearly d3 is not in low saled danger... due to the very very old alpha and the old hl2 alpha people say they enjoyed hl2 better.

I think it is stupidty. People think they know about the game from short clips.
They prefer hl2 because he showed better gameplay then D3.

So VALVe, you can be sure that the IL community will buy your game... and most of us won't buy D3 cuz games in IL cost up to 300 NIS a game.

Now you say, What will you buy D3 or HL2
Ill buy both cuz i saved my money along time ago...

Bye,
Tk

This is not a space question.
And i got a 120G HD.

He just said it was the outrageous prices that was the limitation didn't he?

tkato? whats ur nick in Gamer? I also have an account in Gamer ^_^

btw, ITS A HL2 COMMUNITY!!! SO OF COURSE THEY'LL BUY HL2!!!!

300 ILS = 66 US$ = 55 EUR. Hmm, interesting how HL2 and D3 cost just as much around here in the Netherlands. When you said 'outrageous' I expected something like 75+EUR.

edit: ILS = NIS btw, it's just listed as ILS in the converter

You pay 55 eur for your games?

EDIT: That works out to be £35, not too bad I guess.

I don't think anybody has more right to complain about prices than people from Rip-Off Britain...

Pfft.. taxes all up in our wallet, beach!

wont it be the same price everywhere on steam?

wb Tkato, I still remember your threads about Gordon Freeman in speculation. Genius :)

Edit: they play games in Israel! omg aernt their boms and stuff there?!11

I guess they will still have to charge us VAT, right?

Software is weird, because we probably should legally have to pay VAT on downloads, but they simply cannot enforce it, and can't charge import duty and so on.

If you bought a copy of the game boxed from abroad and had it sent over here, you are supposed to be charged VAT when it enters the country, depending on the circumstances.

When bringing things home from holiday, you are however allowed around £150 of souvenirs before they bring out the VAT sticks. Perhaps this goes for all imports of small value, however I'm not so sure.

I hope those dastardly Palestinians don't like Doom 3 or else they'll be in for some ass whooping.

As much as people love to point out the typical street American's geography, most "typical" (Which don't seem to be typical, I see these shows that interview retarded people on the street but I never know anyone that dumb) Americans know more about Israel than other nations, seeing as how we have such close ties / media attention with them.

I watched this program where they were asking Americans where Eye-Rack is, and a number of them pointed to where France is!

One time I was in America, and we were talking about WW2, and this girl asked me if France and Germany were close to each other!

no one got my gag :(

Israeli upsets me by its behaviour... grrr

so that means americans would know a lot about iraq too? yet the majority cant point out iraq on the map.

Since you live in the same continent as the two countries, its common knowledge where all the countries are over there for you. I doubt you could point out the name of every state on an unlabeled US map.

When did he say a majority? It could have just been 5 people out of 100 that they had asked. It could have even been friggen staged for all that matter.

Oh yeah Tehoen, Sierra PUBLISHED Half-Life, VALVe developed it.

Yes i know i was just being silly.
The majority of america are still ignorant though.

btw he said "most" and correct me if im wrong but isnt that another word for majority

States aren't important like countries, though. And my fiancee is american, and she doesn't know where all the states are, nor does any American I have spoken personally with, although they generally have a good idea about the ones immediately surrounding their own.

I don't know exactly where half of the counties are in the UK, but I know where Ecuador is, that's on the other side of the world, too.

Plus Europe is the centre of the world in terms of civilisation and it's progress, and it's history, and is also the largest single economic unit and market, so I guess we just expect people to know how Europe is set up.

To cut a long story short, here major countries are common knowledge to everyone (I hope Americans included), not just to those who live nearby.

Plus WW2 is a huge chunk of WORLD history, so you'd expect people would know the circumstances of it.

PLUS I do not live on the same continent as the two countries anyway. Hence why those two countries are what's called "Continental Europe". (Ok, so I do live across a couple of miles of water from them, but hey :p)

Finally, I assume that you know where Germany and France are? Surely you think it's kind of stupid to not know where they are? I'm not saying all Americans don't know their geography, but you can surely see why it is humorous that one individual thought Iraq was in France?

Haha :) I was on in France once on some kind of a school trip (we were in Paris) and someone asked us, where were we from. We said we were from Poland. Believe it or not (Poland is just right next to Germany, similar climate to the one in Germany) but the guy asked us, do we have White Bears in Poland, and how cold it is there. Don't know why, the highly educated person assumed Poland is closer to Syberia than any other country in Europe.

So my point is... There are educated people all over the world (and non-educated ppl all ever the world too :farmer:)
And honestly.. I know like 4 bigger States. I dunno how You guys can learn so many :E

You guys don't have it half-bad :p I live in Vancouver (CANADA) and when we get American tourists the first questions they ask are "where are all the igloos?" and "I'd like to try some blubber" :p

heh, BC is almost as big as Europe :p

Also from what Merc had asked, Our media doesn't show us anything good or nice, all they do show is the bad stuff that goes on. All the media cares about is getting the highest ratings, not showing what goes on there in reality. Almost any news channel you turn on you'll hear something like "30 people died today from a suicide bomber in the middle east" or "US Civilian kidnapped and beheaded by ratical terrorists group". The media coverage has given the middle east a look as if everything there is is back to cavemen time. Which isn't true, they haven't show the well maintained cities found in the Middle East.

Tkato,
You have a link to your gamer's community/forums? I'd like to see what Israeli's are talking about.

I just visited Israel this April during Passover beautiful country!,nice people!.I went to Focaccia's in Jerusalem for dinner...it was nice the 12ft partition of bulletproof glass around the outside section of the restaurant actually added to the ambience.I had a great time, and hope I'll be back in Feb '05. We should have HL2 well before then,so I'll be looking for a LAN center in Jerusalem.

take care

Wow, living in a country where restraunts have bullet proof glass has got to be scary. It gives you a real sense of how violent things can get there.

He probably meant Puerto Rico and Guam, territories. They should become states because they get all the same rights without the taxes though.. lucky bastards.

The Jews were nice to us...we're lucky to have them as friends and allies given our government's often clumsy support for Israel.

on the other hand the Muslims were hot headed and argumentative...and can anybody show me where in history has there ever been a "Palestinian" state?

Gabe ....there shouldn't be a HL2 Arabic version,there just shouldn't!!!

Palestinian media watch video's...disturbing
