It begins already: effects of the AMD-ATi merger

Tr0n posted this in another thread but a different source.

"Intel has pulled ATI's chipset license, meaning that there will be no more ATI (or rather, AMD) chipsets for Intel processors after the end of the year."

FYI Intel had been using ATI chipsets to fill in a shortage of their own chipsets. Intel will/has started to make more of their own chipsets again so ATI was going to loose a lot of that demand anyway.

I don't think AMD are going to be to fussed. They will use the extra resources to improve/produce their own chipsets. Cheaper/better AMD chips, thats just what intel needs. This is more of a face thing, having thier chipsets produced by thier main competitor could be a little embarresing. Still-

intel - Something moved!!! Quick, shoot it!!! Oh, bugger that was my foot...
