It drives me nut! help plz (graphics problem)

First time i played my hl2 all was ok but now...

I have exactly same version of drivers. Changing graphic options doesn't help.

It looks like it might be you graphics driver...try updating it or rollingback to a previous driver.

Is your game legit? Most likely drivers otherwise, or your computer is to hot!

you could also be missing those files, thats why the texture isnt showing up, try validating your steam files clicking here

yep - my hl2 is legit
steam site says that purple and black checkerboards are video artifacts and validating will fix it up.
