It's confirmed: Doom3 for PC will not be shown at this year's E3

It's mentioned in there. They aren't showing it because they are currently locked in "completion phase". I know that news may disappoint some, but I know at least a few of us were expecting it. I don't think that was the full reason though, I remember John Carmack saying he didn't wanna be one of those companies that shows an unfinished game for multiple E3s (it has already been shown at 2 iirc).

Anyway, I see this as a good thing. It means Carmack wasn't fooling around when he said they were really close to being done. As long as no unexpected problems halt their process I'd say we'll have Doom3 before August, perhaps even sooner but the realist in me will say August

Same here. I really, really think Id kicks ass for showing NO pictures of the later monsters, mainly the Cyberdemon. I cannot wait to see how that guy looks in this game, and thanks to the almost complete media blackout of new level and monster shots, alot of it is gonna be completely suprising.

Perhaps these game companies were like, hey, we've got a huge high school and college following, so how about we release over the summer so they don't have to worry about finals while they're killing bad guys and sh*t.

It's a 700Mhz Celeron, an old GPU and (from memory) 64MB RAM and quite a small disc which isn't used to store maps and stuff like the PC version. Getting it to run at all sounds like no mean feat.

Consoles don't work in the same ways that PCs do by their very nature. Thats why we still see amazingly good looking games on them. Although I wouldn't expect to see Doom 3 at full quality on most peoples computers, much less their TV.

The Xbox demo will run at a solid 30 FPS in 480p widescreen

Although the Xbox port of DooM³ will feature as good gameplay as the PC version, some graphical sacrifices and level editing has been done to ensure solid performance.

That's to be expected. It's just a shame that id won't be there; I would have like some more information, and it's not as though they would give the plot away.

Well they will be supposedly showing a 10-minute demo of the XBox version of Doom3 that shows quite alot of good stuff, sure it won't be PC quality graphics but it's gonna give us plenty of juicy new Doom3 footage to check out.

Heh yeah Half-Life 2's gonna be there
