The Half-Life 2 Steam offers are now ready for purchase from www.steampowered.com. Details and pricing for these offers are pasted below. Those who purchase via Steam, will receive the final version of Counter-Strike: Source immediately. Half-Life 2 and other games in the Steam offerings will be made available to purchasers upon their release.[br]

ATI/Half-Life 2 bundle owners may redeem their product key for the Bronze offer or apply their key toward the purchase of either the Silver or Gold offers, receiving a credit equal to the price of the Bronze offer.

[br]This is excellent news and after all this time, we finally have something to keep us going until the Big Daddy of all games is released, Half-Life 2. You now have five options. You can either buy Half-Life 2 as retail, buy it as part of a Collectors Edition at the shop or buy it through Steam with three seperate packages to choose from. The choice is yours.[br]

I'm getting the message "could not connect to server, it is using an older protocol (4)" when I try to connect to the b33f servers. Have they been updated yet?

$10.00 for Silver. Finally got what came with my video card. Steam ain't so bad. :)
 
You can't phantom how awesome this is. I shot a computer, it had different parts, a cooling fan and even an graphics card (ati of course)
 
At least I can see some servers now. It took a while for the master server to wake up.
 
I am still in a state of shock of awesomeness. This goes above god, valve is forgiven for not having deathmatch.
 
Wow, I leave for 24 hours and when I come back, there is an explosion of new news.

Good to see that you can finally play CS:S now. Those screens like good; I like the changes that were made.

I wounder if they'll release Half-Life: Source a week prior to the sequel?

There are still no extra models (What. The. Hell.)
Basically, it's still kind of beta-y
Oh, and there are no bots. Try typing in "bot_add" in the console. Yep, that's right. You'll get this message:
"Bots aren't allowed in the beta"
... :O
 
Wow...that's nice for a mod that's been turned into a shameless retail product. Good job Valve, now where's our HL2?

I don't think they can, the reason that valve could release counter strike is because they own it completly, everything. They wouldn't be able to release half-life: source until vivendi gives the go because its most likely under the agreament that anything under the half life universe can't be released other than vivendi. This is speculation!

Despite the fact that I really don't have $150 Canadian to spend on games right now... I believe my better judgement prevailed over purchasing the gold package over Steam. Can't wait to give CS:S a shot.

Also, did the Steam Max Network Capacity use to be 10Gbps, or did they just bump it up this morning? Their network still seems to be pretty saturated.

Madhotch -- I believe you can by both HL:S and DOD:S separately from everything for those of us that are buying the boxed versions. But they will only be offered on Steam, if I'm thinking right. There won't be boxed versions for a long time--maybe never--who knows...
 
DoD:S was published by Activision, not VUG. As such, it might be sold seperately on the shelves at some point, but it is not part of the current store-bought options.
 
i had a friend tell me that you can buy the retail stuff and uppgrade that on steam. as in, if i bought standard retail, I could upgrade it to Silver at home.

anyone know is this is true?
 
Bought it (bronze) at 20:01....and no servers up...20:15 full of servers...

Its bloody wonderfull...................
it "lagged", so i restarted my comp, did the trick... no console strangely.... :thumbs:

i want to buy Silver but i live in netherlands and am only 16 years old.. i have a bank account.. but no "creditcard" i have a "pinpas" as we call it in dutch.. but i'm not sure if those work.. is there anybody who has an answer to that?

Uh oh. I have the same system, but with a gig of RAM and a 9700 pro. I hope HL2 runs decent on mine. It actually doesn't look too bad on yours. You're running it at a decent resolution, did you have to turn down a bunch of details or something? As long as you get decent frames and can see what's going on, who cares? They have been saying that HL2 will be designed to run well on "lower end" hardware.
