It keeps on locking THE **** UP.
Apparently it can't handle the 840 artists.

Anyone suggest any cracked alternate version that doesn't stink of shit?

I can't delete my playlist or library or whatever the **** because it locks up if I try!

I use itunes, but my missus had the same problem as you. She changed to Media Monkey now and constantly laughs at me for not using it. Apparently it's great. Just like itunes without the Quicktime malware ;)

Hehe, I couldn't help but chuckle upon the words Media Monkey.

LOLitunes

There are far too many decent media players available to be using iTunes, especially if you're not on a Mac.

EDIT: Having an iPod is not an excuse.

Whoa whoa whoa. 840 artists? Did you go into the iTunes store and press cntrl+a then buy?

1568 artists in Winamp, do I win?

A bunch are of course spelling mistakes/variations I cba fixing (Guns'n'roses GunsNRoses Gun n Roses etc.), but still.

If you don't mind starting over with the library you could delete the library data files (My Documents -> My Music -> Itunes). Then reimport the music into itunes. It will probably re download album art etc.
Apple's itunes network/sharing process "Bonjour Service" (aka mDNSResponder.exe) has froze my system before in an older version of itunes. Could try killing that in task manager.

I use itunes on this PC w/1895 artists (no multiple spellings). No issues. Shared libraries off.

I-tunes is ****ing shit. Slow and unresponsive, can't transfer files from ipod to multiple systems etc.

I gave up on it a month ago, after it wouldn't sync with my pod. I use an external software now though.

Eh, I've got no problems with iTunes. When I get a new comp it'll be a hassle to transfer my files over, but whatever.

Completely understandable, as this would make piracy very easy.
That aside, its an annoying shit. But who doesnt know HD-HD transfer, or flash drive, or email, etc. Chances are, if you have it on your ipod, its on your computer first.

not understandable, because you can do it with any other mp3 player. or a flash drive. or a dvd-r. or any of the myriad tools that let you write your mp3s to your ipod in a sensible manner.
