Well, I just started getting into world politics, news and all that jazz about two years ago, and I have pretty much followed most print news sources, such as TIME, The Economist, RD. Only recently did I venture onto the Internet for news. And mind you, I live in an Asian Nation which has rather close ties to USA (Wait, I'll explain) From what I had read over the 2 years,
I only knew that George W. Bush had won his election fairly, without any problems whatsoever, and he was a perfect person, having had successful businesses, having abolished abortions (meh) cut marriage taxes, saved the US Economy after 9/11, and all that jazz. The only bad thing mentioned was the fact that he attacked Iraq over "WMD's" which he found none. So I believed, and I watched the movie Fahrenheit 9/11..
Now, I'm not saying I should believe this movie completely (Just watched a bit of it today in English Class), but I must say the information I found out shocked me, because I had never read about it anywhere on the Singapore News Channels, Print, Papers everything. I don't care if you say I'm living under a rock, but I just found out about how Al Gore was to win the elections, but Bush won instead due to a displacement of 16 000 voters in Florida who were deemed not to have the right to vote, and his possible relation with the vote counter in Florida. I just found out about his relation (both his Dad and Him) with the Saudi's, including Osama's family. I found out that his failed oil businesses were funded by the Saudi's (not too sure if this is right). I found out that a day after the 9/11 incident, they sent the Bin Laden family back to Saudi Arabia from the US (the only one's who actually travelled by air that day) without even questioning them since they could be possible suspects or to get information.
And most shockingly, when Bush got elected back then, I was pretty darn sure I saw as a kid back then of how Bush was inaugurated as President of the United States without a hassle and how everyone was cheering for him. Then I found out that people were throwing eggs at his car, and rioting because the voting was unfair.
Wtf. I'm still scratching my head in confusion whether to take all this in or not, and I still haven't finished watching the movie yet. I've come to one conclusion though, I've been fooled. How come Singapore, my country, which has close ties with the US not even publish a single bit of this information anywhere? I've been fooled?
