XFX GeForce PCX6600 GT Extreme Gamers Edition 128MB DDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

Kingston HyperX 512MB DDR PC2700 (KHX2700/512) CAS2.0

Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 Plus NCQ 120GB ST3120827AS SATA 8MB Cache - OEM

Abit AG8 3RD Eye (LGA775) PCI-Express Motherboard

Intel Pentium 4 520 "LGA775 Prescott" 2.8GHz (800FSB) with HT Technology - Retail

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 CPU Cooler (Socket 775)

Along with some LED fans and Arctic silver :)

Can't wait to put it all together, I worked hard to be able to afford this upgrade :D

dear god no... you went with INTEL??

/me cries....

and after all i did for you :(

In the case of the LGA775 CPU's there is. They overheat all too easily and throttle the CPU speed if they get too hot. If it does throttle you may find that 2.8GHz CPU throttling back down to 200-300MHz... Hence you have to make sure you use proper cooling...

I still would have advised AMD64 over a P4 even if you went with a cheaper socket 754...

Yeah, but I really had to go for PCI-Express :)

The main problem with the AMD boards were the decent ones were either out of stock/or £80+ and I could have gone with them if they'd had enough IDE ports, since I couldn't afford to do SATA as well :P

Anyway, I'm happy with what I bought.. Abit are good for overclocking, so all should be tweaked soon enough :D

nice system, i dont care about the difference of intel and amd for me i buy good cooling and stuff. I dont need a AMD to get 10fps more. And I cant tell the difference between 30 and 60 frames so i dont care lol

This tells me you have never gotten faster than 40 FPS :P

10 FPS can be huge difference. If my framerate drops to 30 FPS in any game, I lower my graphics quality or overclock more.
20 FPS and my eyes start bleeding.

And in any case, AMD >>> Intel. :)

I currently have nearly 100 or more usually. I just upgraded from fx 5200 to 6800gt. And i do not see a big difference. Well actually i kinda exaggerated because i didnt look at my fx 5200 until now and it gets average of 45fps-60fps. dropping to 30fps at the lowest. if it drops below 45 i usually can tell the difference so yeah i am wrong about that. And yeah if i go below 30 i want to slit my eyes shut haha.

But with the 5200 you weren't getting the pretty Directx 9 graphics as you are now with the 6800GT. So.... High Graphics/Directx 9/High Framerates>Medium Graphics/Directx 8/Mediumm Framerates

Just thought I'd mention this since nobody else has.
You do realise that before you've even built that system, your already overclocking the memory by 33mhz.
I assume HyperX means it goes way over the normal 166Mhz fsb.
But would'nt it have been better to get 512mb of PC3500 OR PC4000, or at least PC3200.
If your gonna overclock, how do you know that the memory is going to be stable above its current 33mhz overclock.

I know i am saying the graphics are wayyyyyyyyyyy nicer but the framerates i cannot tell the difference betweeen

why did u buy the CPU retail if u were buyin a better fan seperate neway? im just sayin

OEM wasn't available at the time, and hell, a spare heatsink and fan is always useful :)

I'm gonna buy my new comp in instalments, I'm that far in debt I can't afford to lay out the moolah in one shot:(

The first bit I'm getting is a Gainward ultra GLH 6600GT, was havin trouble finding any in stock and was sliding towards the XFX version myself, all my other recent cards have been xfx cards and they've always been nicely o/c-able. But the gainward is sooo ramped up I just HAD to have it, with a bit of luck overclockers will be delivering it on tuesday:E

/crosses fingers.

which means I've got an xfx5900xt going spare if anyone wants to help me pay off my debts;p
