Ive noticed on this forum..

That so many people are incredibly uptight.. For instance there seem to be alot of tattle tell people who live to tell on others to close threads or bash newbie's... If I started a thread saying I think its going to be a month until VU relases halflife 2 or I think that half life 2 is deffinatley coming out in november why dont you guys? I would certianly be bashed to no end.. (Which honestly shouldn't really bother anyone becuase its just a simple message board about half life 2.) What really bothers me are all the seemingly anti social intreverted people who revel in being able to power trip however small that may be to feel good about themselves.. I mean its a little ridiculous.. (Admins are excluded from what I'm saying becuase obviously its your job.)

(Btw I feel this is relevant here becuase I see most of these kinds of threads in Half life 2 general discussion.)

its because people just post pointless childish threads, or post threads about things which have been discussed a million times over. if a 'newbie' posted an interesting thread that hasnt been discussed before, you wouldnt see this reaction.

for example did you really find it nessessary to sign upto this forum just for that post? nobody is going to like this thread at all. not even you.

This place isn't as bad as a lot of internet forums. Just check out certain HL2 sites and places like SteamPowered.com. The forums are very agressive and hostile.

Goombatommy: No one's getting bashed, and no thread is pointless unless it's spam or been posted recently before.

Discussions about the site and community are all discussed in the Site Discussion forum.

But Dr0ndeh, you're forgetting that the people who run this site, don't want people here that are going to bash the new people, or crap their pants whenever someone's posted something that's already discussed or spammed. We're sick of people having hostile attitudes towards people, even if it isn't as bad as worse, it's worse than we want it.

Its just a simple post!!! You can't control what other people post about there will always be newbies asking stupid questions! The fact that you have that reactions speaks volumes about who you are no? I mean come on.. Do you really think I care about your negative reaction or anyone else's. The reason for this post was to simple see if the majority of the people here were "Normal everyday rational people" or people who lean more into what you are.. lol Im just curious.. and thanks Chris D for your help early. I really cant believe I made such an amateur mistake lol.

The quickest way is to click the button to the right of the quote button. Click on "Quote message in reply?" and then type your message in the message box above it.

Rellik, you're speaking sense in my opinion. People try to control what other people post by saying things like "Locked", "Search", "omg thsi has ben discused soooo many timez befar loloololz n00b!" and it just makes the threads go on and on unnecessarily. Everyone who gets fed up with seeing these posts crop up are your own worst enemies, because everytime you reply to one of these threads a) you're missing out on the opportunity of reporting it to us and we will normally do something about it and b) you're putting the thread to the top of the forum again with your new post so more people find it and post in it and it stays alive for longer.

Just report the threads and we'll kill it, or it'll just die on it's own if you leave it alone.

And I've said this before: What do you think we class as being worse? Someone spamming a thread and being unfriendly and unhelpful, or a new guy looking for help?

HL2.net is one of the most popular sites regarding the HL series.. with that comes the good and the bad... meaning there is alot of pointless threads, duplicate threads and whatever else in between i might have missed.

does it make it right for a sensible member here to "lose it" once in a while? obviously not...but when u consider the volume this site gets in terms of users.. u can imagine the sensible, well-informed user getting at least a tiny bit annoyed at the huge amount of pointless and duplicate threads getting created everyday.

anyway...just wanted to say that considering this site is so popular and it does attract its fair share of trolls, un-informed users and others don't bother to use the search button.

I actually think that this forum is one of the best on the internet. I actually don't even notice hostility here, because I'm used to the Steampowered forums. I like posting here, and I feel more welcome than on any other forum I've ever been on. (Been on a few in my life). Of course there will always be someone bursting out, maybe because of a bad hair day, or a bad hat day for that matter, but who really cares ? Being angry once in a while is human, and most of us are humans, though there are some orcs and trolls about.
