IW before, and now

I'm surprised Kotaku took so long to post that...

MW2 seemed to be a lot more influenced by business decisions with wanting to control every aspect of the game so they can make money off of DLC. So sad...

Yup, it's a real shame, but that's what happens when a company gets large enough IMO.

Isn't Activision-Blizzard(Of which IW is part) like the biggest gaming conglomerate nowadays? Or is that still EA?

Douchebags. It's sad to think of where they started, and what they've become now.

Indeed its a sad change, hope this doesnt happen to other developers...

isn't gaming expensive before you even press start?? they really got us by the balls from day 1 no matter how you look at it

Neither is a conglomerate, they are both entertainment companies...

Oh right, my bad, I thought conglomerate means simply a very large company, I see now that it means a company that has several different sub-companies that focus on different industries, like say Sony for example.

Yet again, my bad.

They are expensive if you buy games soon after they come out. And if you do that, in most cases, you'll need a recent game rig as well.

World of Goo was 'pay whatever you want for it' on its one year anniversary. And you can run this on just about any game computer.

Sorry, was just being picky. In england we call the largest listed companies "blue chip" (as blue chips are usually of the highest value in casinos).

It's more and more difficult to find conglomerates these days as they tend to be held in a dim view by investors, even those which you think are conglomerates are not.

For example: sainburys run food stores, but ghere is also a sainsburys credit card. The credit card is administered bt mbna, all sainsburys do is sell, so they're not a conglomerate.

On topic: **** Activision

They never changed. They were douchebags from the beginning.

How so? Until this they had only made CoD 1, 2 and 4 ... all of which were pretty good and not exploitative.

I would say that MW2 - both the game and the business model - is an about-face for them.
