I live in Edmonton and Bioware is in Edmonton..and I'm very proud of Bioware getting a nearly perfect score for Jade Empire. This is a must buy for me...or anyone else who likes RPG's. Can't wait until the 14 of april :)

EDIT: IGN has not posted the score on the first page of the review yet. Go to the last page to see it.

Wow. Just wow.

I may actually have to buy this now. I had no idea it would garner such a high review. I'm honestly in shock...wow.

You're that surprised?

This is Bioware we're talking about.

Woah, another obscenely high IGN review.

I'm surprised though. The only thing holding this game back from a 10 to IGN is a few camera issues? Crazy. I'm interested to hear GS's review.

I'll definitely rent this one.

HELL YES! so excited for this and just got knocked up a notch!

IGN is a hype machine. As for the game: I'll wait until it gets ported to PC. It sounds interesting enough.

more like another obscenely high ign xbox review, they are quite the xbox fanboy

Nice.

So many people have been waiting for this game for years - it's good to see that the wait has been worth it (especially as there have been so few decent single player rpgs recently)

Who really had any doubt that this would be anything but great anyway?? :)

And so maney of them thought the greedy bastards would also release it on the PC.

I don't like the setting of the game at all, it looks terrible. I hope the gameplaye can make up for it, but I doubt I will get this as WoW is more than enough for me right now.

Madman. How can a mysterious far east setting with more monkey magic than you could want not make an excellent backdrop for an rpg :)

A very welcome change from from dragons, wizards and barbarians in bear skins.

I totally agree.

The setting is the very thing that makes this game look awesome.

Me, to. The worst thing I found about kotor, was that it was set in the SW universe, thats has been doen so much time, it's ****ing retro, and I hate retro. JE looks incredible, inspiring.

GTA:SA = 9.9
Metroid Prime 2 = 9.5
Halo 2 = 9.8
Brothers in Arms = 9.3
Resident Evil 4 = 9.8
Half-Life 2= 9.7
Devil May Cry = 9.6
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory = 9.6
Metal Gear Solid 3 = 9.6

Tell me about it. From everything i've heard and played, the only games that deserve to be up there are HL2 and Resident Evil 4. With the exception of HL2, RE 4 and BIA, all the other games there consist of the same gameplay as their predecessors. Only a few slight changes have been made to any of them, either by adding new features (Duel-wielding for Halo 2, Eating and exercising for GTA:SA, eating snakes in MGS 3 and adding Co-op in SP:CT and making the DMC 3 alot harder then the 2nd)

While I agree IGN scores games way too high, all those games do deserve good scores for the fun gameplay, good stories, nice graphics, and overall just good games. And if your only going to go by different, new, gameplay then the only game that would actually deserve a high score would be RE4 since it different from all its other predecessors.

I will wait for the gamerankings.com overall

Cause we know that always gets games right ;)

I whole heartedly agree with the exception of GTA:SA...I can't stand that game series. Utter crap IMO.

MP2: Echoes deserved that score. Better SP than Halo 2 IMO. Then again, MP1 was better than Halo 1. Oh well...all my opinion.

GTA:SA = 9.9 Deserves an 8.7 maybe
Metroid Prime 2 = 9.5 Haven't played it
Halo 2 = 9.8 They ruined this game - 7.0 for crappy SP story and horrible MP
Brothers in Arms = 9.3 9.0 - Liked this one
Resident Evil 4 = 9.8 Haven't played anything but the demo
Half-Life 2= 9.7 8.8 in my book
Devil May Cry = 9.6 9.4 - They gave DMC a driving story and more depth to gameplay and fighting
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory = 9.6 9.3 - Co-op is fun, but only 4 levels - they expanded more on SP and MP
Metal Gear Solid 3 = 9.6 9.5 - Not as many twists and turns as MGS2 but still damn good

IGN overrates just about everything but I have been bothering less and less with the actual score they give and just read through the review itself to pick out all the details that I rate games on.

I don't really care for the oriental vibe of the game. That kind of crap tends to bore the shit out of me.

I want to see more sci-fi RPGs.

How can it bore you when very few, if any, games have used this 'vibe'.

I've personally been waiting for something like this since I started gaming years ago.

(some sci-fi RPGs would be nice too :))

Hell yes! I would love to see someone make a realistic Sci-Fi RPG. But hey, we got two amazing Sci-Fi action/adventure games to look forward to: Advent Rising and Pariah. I can't wait for those games.

Again, I agree with everyone.

There are not nearly enough Sci-Fi RPGs.

Can't wait for Fallout 3 from Bethesda.

Yeah me too. I only read the reviews and ignore the score. When it comes to the score, Gamespot is usually the closest to my opinion. So they suit me better.

Oh, and you must buy Resident Evil 4. It totally kicks ass, especially that knife fight cutscene with Krauser :E that totally rocked

I can.
If they mess it up and make it a FPS I'll really suicide bomb their asses, what I loved about Fallout was partly it's turnbased gameplay.
If they **** it up then...*Loads up power-armor and gets his Brotherhood Of Steel members ready*

I wouldn't mind FPS, I wasn't a big fan of the turnbased gameplay. And if you guys liked the Fallout series, check out The Fall: Last Days of Gaia. Whenever it actually comes to America anyway...

Anyone have this game yet? I was thinking of ordering it.

Hopefully mine will come tommorow.

Got it for $35 at Outpost. :D

Is it using the Kotor engine? it looks like it is to me.

I don't think it is using the KOTOR engine..the combat is free combat..no turn based...and some other differences.

after reading the various reviews of Jade Empire I think from now on I'll take IGN reviews with a big grain of salt ...I mean how can one reviewer rate it a 9.9 where most other reviewers gave it a high 80's to low 90's?

Yeah, ever since the big games last year IGN have gone downhill, big time. Now they're just handing out 9.8's and 9.6's to every new game.

Gamespot responded with an 8.4.

Needless to say the, Xbox General Board exploded again. This is after GS gave the Xbox versions of both Doom 3 and Chaos Theory scores of 8.6.

They think its a Gamespot "conspiracy" to "underrate" games to generate site traffic.

Well, I don't care for it in any other medium. I don't care for the kind of mythology they create. I don't care for their environments. I don't care for the aesthetic style. I don't care for the combat. I don't care for their general overtones. And I loathe the music that is usually used.

However, that's not necessarily going to stop me from buying the game. The game is what matters the most and Bioware has proven themselves to be very competent. Who knows, the game may turn out to be the exception to my rule. ;)

But I'd personally prefer to see Bioware returning to the KOTOR franchise. TSL, although a very enjoyable game, made me want to kill things with its ending (**** you very much, LucasArts).
