James McAvoy cast as Prof X in X-Men First Class

James McAvoy has joined the cast of "X-Men: First Class," a prequel to Fox's superhero trilogy.

The British actor, last in theaters with "The Last Station," will play a young Charles Xavier, a.k.a. Professor X, a role originated by Patrick Stewart in the preceding films.

According to Fox, "First Class" will "chart the epic beginning of the X-Men saga.

Good actor, horrible casting.

Anyway, they'll have to do a lot more than that to convince me to revisit this franchise after Wolverine. Calling it "epic" wasn't a good start.

The first and second were good, the third was dumb as hell but still somewhat enjoyable. Wolverine Origins was just... ugh.

I myself prefer to second, but I certainly consider them both very good movies. Nr 3 was... let's be generous and say 'weak', cause let's face it- it still had Ian McKellen and Partick Stewart in it.

It failed from the start when they went with black leather instead of the real costumes.

If the First Class is successful they should reboot the main series.
