Greetings all,

When the movie Jaws was released back in the late 70's, it badly scared the hell out of everyone that saw it and actually caused several beaches along the coast to almost empty of swimmers overnight. Always it seems in games that the player playes the role of the hero or some other savior of mankind. (Same thing as a hero right?) Few are the games that let you play as the bad guys.

Jaws Unleased is such a game.

Game Features:
1) Take control of Jaws the Great White Shark while playing out themes and in locations from the JAWS film universe
2) More than 10 meticulously detailed, destructible environments, each with unique designs and intense action
3) Unleash real-time damage on intelligent enemies, vehicles and structures
4) Perform a variety of stunning underwater, surface and air attacks via a user friendly combat system
5) Dismemberment engine provides multiple points of disconnection allowing for characters and objects to be torn apart piece by piece
6) Follow story-based missions or choose to freely roam the island and its surroundings causing havoc
7) Encounter multiple side missions/challenges including timed destruction, stealth, chase and others
8) Face fearsome arena bosses including killer whales, powerful boats and more
9) See your victims before they know you?re coming and target lock on enemies from afar with Shark Vision
10) Created by Appaloosa Interactive, developer of the award-winning Ecco the Dolphin series

This is one game that you don't want to judge from the screen shots, because I have to admit they are not all that impressive. Nor are the actual ingame game graphics going to win any awards for it's cutting edge visuals. Think of GTA under water in terms of graphics, with Jaws Unleashed looking slightly better than GTA. However, I was very suprised at just how much fun this game actually was. The sharks movements are fluid & very well done, as are the general water effects. Under water is teeming with life & is overall very colorful. There is no limit of food so you can always regen life.

There is just something fun about attacking boats & destroying piers & docks by attacking their supports under water. The attacks are also very well done & as you progress, you learn new skills. There are even some RPG type elements to the game as you progress. You can control the shark in either 1st or 3rd person view. The audio is generic, yet performs just fine. With hearing screaming swimmers & boaters as they spot you, with their voices getting muffled while you are swimming under water.

If a person is thrown from a boat or knocked off a pier or other object, you see them trying to swim to shore or another boat. they will actually get out of the water & back into whatever they fell out of.

The game also has gibs. When you attack other sea life, such as sea otters other fishes, other sharks & people, it's not an instant kill when you attack. You can do different types of attacks, jump out of water & even go out of water for short periods of time, such as a platform near a pier. Jump up on it and then wiggle your way along, attacking everyone in your way. You have 10 seconds to return to the water before you begin to lose health. there are several different attacks, like the silent from under attack so you can eat around swimmers and they don't see you unless you chew the person there and they see the blood, or other sharks then come and attack. You can drag a victin under water with you, all the while he is trailing blood, which attracts other sharks that will then attack you. You can even aim for body parts and chew them off. Bite a man or woman in half, you'll see their guts & other body parts floating in the water or trailing from their bodies.

My daughter who is 9, totally loves sharks & has for years. Well she caught me playing JAWS and had to play it. When I told her it was bloody & not appropriate, she gave me that look, the look all little kids reserve for their parents that says: "I am not a Little Kid! Stop Treating Me Like One!" So these are the pictures that her & I took while playing. My daughter was in control of the camera & timed all the Screen Shots.

Haha I think the game looks like it could be damn fun. The idea is just so stupid and the graphics are awful

Tbh, the only fun comes from tearing people apart. At least for me. It's really a mindless slaughterfest and nothing more.

I heard that the controls for the game were terrible, but I have been extremely tempted to give it a rent.

I'm not sure about the console version, but the PC version (review version) was very simple to control Jaws. I didn't play the console version, but from what I have read, the PC version is much better.
So don't let one version put you off from the other.

I just have to say woah, I never thought this game would actually see daylight

Finally managed to snag this game.

It's pretty fun, so far the only problem I have with it is the camera and the somewhat consolish control scheme.

what are you? the official reviewer of the site?

Looks like a mod for Farcry where you eat Jack Carver......

I thought that's what it was.

I played it for about an hour, but I thought it was boring as hell.
