Don't know how many of you here know about this (probably a few) but I've been playing it recently and its pretty fun. Think oldschool Doom action, in full OpenGL with lighting effects, 3d enemys/scenery/pickups/hud weapons/particle effects. It also comes with mouselook for an unbeatable twitch gaming experience.
It's the original doom, like you've never seen before.
You can get it from here. All you need are the original Doom/Doom2/Final Doom .wad files, or even the shareware doom wad files will do.
Heres some screens.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, it works with Heretic and Hexen too. Don't know if theres any fancy 3d models for those though.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to using jDoom in a lan game next week. Should be pretty intense. I used to play oldschool Doom deathmatch but with the added benefits of jumping and mouselook and the 3dness its gonna be like a whole new game.

Ive only just finished playing The Plutonia Experiment on Hurt-Me-Plenty

Its a damn sight tougher than i expected :D

This is the version they are transferring to the DS I think... It's a homebrew effort, but it would be excellent.

That looks excellent! When I get time to play it, I'll get it.

Awesome stuff! :D

I have like every pack you can possibly get for jdoom (Including the 200+ mb texture pack). It looks ****ing amazing!! Way better visuals than half-life 1 or unreal IMO.

old school, i used to have that on an old ass IBM I think.

That looks pretty cool. I have something similar for quake too. It uses new textures too and looks pretty cool too.

how big is it, how big is shareware Doom and where can I get that?(if it's still available)

Someone should collect every file needed to play jDoom, including all the best graphical expansions, and whack it into a single monster zip file.

Then torrent it :D Cheers!

Yeah that would give me something to do inbetween CSS games.

This is a pic of a new Quake engine I found. Its called Tenebrae, and a quick google search will find their site. If anyone knows where to get any texture improvement packs for Tenebrae, could they post the info here? Notice the awesome shadows. Theres also bump mapping and some other cool features there but you really have to see it in motion.
