That would be such an amazingly scary thing to see. I've always wanted to see something like that. Hell, shooting stars are amazing to see in my opinion, yet they still frighten me.

If a meteor hits the world, I want to be in it's path...so I can see it first hand...

in the nineties a comet (name escapes me) came relatively close to the earth on it's way by ..it was visible in the night sky for a few days it was by far the most awesome celestial sight I've ever seen. like a fiery ball slowly making it's way across the horizon

My dad took me outside to see that; we were on a Scottish island so there was little to no light pollution.

Wow I remember that. I'd spend ages sitting in my aunt's garden staring at the thing. I cried when it left.

I saw a meteor hit 'near' here (several miles away). It was about 3:00a, and we were driving back from San Francisco, when it was suddenly very bright, like mid-morning. I didn't see the streak, but it was scary as hell, because my first thought was NUKE! It was in the papers later.

Me too, but just so I can wave my arms at it mystically and have the fantasy that I'm summoning a giant, all-destroying meteor before I die.

I'd be scared for a few minutes, awaiting a wave of vaporization heading my way.
