I just saw The Forbidden Kingdom. Man, what a disappointing piece of crap.
After all these decades they finally teamed up and it had to be some US produced kiddy appealing atrocity. The only thing worth mentioning is the unexpected comedic performance by Jet Li. They should have teamed up with somebody like Stephen Chow instead of some hack that directs piss poor Disney flicks. I can only hope that they re-team again and do it right this time.

Anyway, here's a very funny video of them trash talking each other

There's already another thread with people bitchfitting about this movie.

I don't know what everybody's beef with the movie is. Oh no, an American directed it, it's shit.

The movie was fun, and it was good. Coming from someone who's got a library of old Chinese martial arts movies, and having viewed it with friends of mine who are martial arts practitioners and HUUUUUUGE fans of Jackie Chan, one of them having earned his degree at a prestigious film school, we all sat through and enjoyed the movie immensely.

Seriously what the fuck is wrong with some of you people on this board when it comes to movies? You're so goddamned "shit sux" it's not even funny, even when it's GOOD. This was a good movie. It was funny, had good action, the characters themselves were intriguing--yes, even the WHITE GUY IN A MARTIAL ARTS MOVIE OH MY GOD DID YOU SEE THAT HE WAS AN AMERICAN IN A KUNG FU FLICK DIRECTED BY AMERICANS?--so what's the problem? "Kiddy-appealing atrocity directed by a hack who does Disney flicks."

Oh man. So sorry to disappoint you. I realize how grimdark and serious all the Jackie Chan movies coming out of China are and this totally just goes against the grain. This one was just way too kiddy.

Oh, wait.

But you're totally right, you know. Stephen Chow wouldn't have had the movie be all childlike and humorou--oh, wait.

Just shut up while you're behind. I swear, some of you guys in this section. Can't just enjoy a good movie without coming up with flimsy arguments against.

Who said anything about Jackie's flicks being grim and dark? Although, if you were a "fan" you'd know that a few of them have a much darker tone then his usual movies. Anyway, not all of us are that easily pleased with every piece of turd Hollywood manages to churn out. Some of us actually have taste. I Am sure that you think The Haunted Mansion is the pinnacle of movie cinema. Good for you. Enjoy!
I, however, would rather see Jackie himself direct the next team up in his native language then some Hollywood hack that can't even get a half decent performance out of his actors.

But see, you're not actually giving a reason why you think it sucks. You just called it "kiddy" and "Hollywood crap" which everyone seems to think is the grand ol' explain-everything these days. "It's from HOLLYWOOD. It's KIDDY." The fuck does that even mean? You basically said nothing and are trying to defend it as your opinion. Jackie Chan--gasp--makes movies that entertain people of all ages, including children.

"A few of them have a much darker tone," yeah, Police Story. But most of them are aimed at being flicks that you go in and you get some action mixed with comedy, which is exactly what happened here. Also don't give me that "native language" bullshit. That's not an impediment for Jackie Chan. He wouldn't act any better in Mandarin than he would in English.

"Hollywood hack that can't get a half-decent performance out of his actors," God what the hell are you even talking about? The acting was fine. I don't know, maybe you're not in the habit of watching a lot of Asian cinema; let me tell you, this was good acting for a kung fu flick. I would even go as far as to say this is exceptional acting for a kung fu flick.

I think you're just butthurt because the director was from Hollywood and everyone wasn't speaking Chinese. Which...almost sounds like a weeaboo argument...

Anyway, good movie was good, you're talking to a guy who watches martial arts flicks all the time here, who hangs out and works with people who watch martial arts flicks, I have friends who are stuntmen in sentai series; one of my coworkers sitting across from me just said as I was typing this, "5 o'clock, 36 Chambers of Death time." Every weekend I go down to Sun Entertainment in Chinatown and stock my import library; you can't argue with me on a subject like this bro. Your opinion becomes invalid. People like to think they're entitled to their opinions; sure, but you're wrong.

Good kung fu movie was good. So says a guy who actually knows what the fuck he's talking about, rather than being on the "Hollywood sucks; needs more original language" bandwagon.

I Am neither blaming the actors nor the material. What ****ing "bandwagon"? The quality of Hollywood movies has dropped considerably in the recent years. You are either too dimwitted to take notice of that or just plain delusional. But again, some of us have to lack taste such in your case.
I take it, you are Rob Minkoff's bastard spawn? Either that or his personal ball washer.

No, see, the bandwagon is that even on good movies people still say, "Hollywood sucks," as is the case here. I don't know what's so damn "disappointing" about this movie. Great fight scenes. Funny moments. The plot was pretty good for a martial arts flick. And while I could go point-by-point about what's good about the movie, all you've been saying is, "Hollywood. Hollywood. Hollywood. Rob Minkoff. Haunted Mansion. Chinese language."

You know I didn't even realize it was directed by Minkoff. Didn't bother to look up the director; wasn't important to me. But thanks for mentioning it, really, because holy shit this is the guy who directed Lion King.

So actually, what have you been talking about bitching about the director? Go ahead and say Lion King was a bad movie. Really. I would like to see you try. Myself and critics around the world would like that very much. But I guess he's such a terrible, American director. From Hollywood. Hollywood, America. Directing Chinese people. Who aren't from America. Who should have been directing their own movie in their native language, a non-kiddy movie but with the same material.

Do you think when you type or just let your brain take a backseat while your fingers do the work? But I guess I'm the dimwitted one. Yeah, I guess it sucks being able to enjoy good movies and not bashing them because of where they're made, what language is being spoken, and who the director is. Maybe someday I too will be able to post half-cocked opinions on the internet and try to defend them by giving generalizations about an industry and then claiming that my opponent is related to/rubbing the genitals of a person I disdain because of a single flick.

Or I could just fire back, "I don't know, I take it Rob Minkoff raped your mother?"

i thought it was good. Also, the jackie chan and jet le bagging on each other video was funnnyyyy
