hmmmmm, I know u are new to modelling. But how long have u actually been modelling? U need to download some 3dbuzz vtms.

www.3dbuzz.com

sign up and login. Go to the donwloads section after login in and go to the maya VTM's. They are video tutorials and have running commentry. They are actually funny as well which is kewl. On issue 3 of the 3dsmax vtms the constantly take the piss out of this female student. Its class :P

Anyway thats how I learnt to model. Its so much better than crappy web tutorials. I have never done the maya ones. But the 3dsmax series is wicked. Ow and btw they are all FREE!

I really think i made a mistake with Maya , its too freakin hard. I was thinking about switching to 3D studios since so many things support it, tons of tutorials and even if i did create a model for halflife i wouldnt be able to export it to a SMD file , or at least to my knowledge :\. thanks for the link

The model could do with a bit of work, but it's a good start. I'd probably make your first stop some tutorials (as already reccomended), and then maybe find some schematics to work from, it will help you get a perfect model.

And don't knock Maya, it's a damn fine package!

Tork, I am not 3dsmax expert but I tend to help quiet a lot of people out with it. If you have any questions or problems just msn me at [email protected] I r always here to help. Unless I am busy. Just try not to bug me to much :D

hey Ichi that site had some nice tutorials.

i learned tons of new stuff from that link you gave me :)

check out this robot i made.

"Danger, Will Robinson, Danger"

anywho, on a serious note, there seem to be a few shading errors around the Square thing on the chest of him, and i'm geussing that it's not for a mod, so the sides on the cylinders don't need to be optermised or anything, so :p

ye thats a thing. Even I my self do not know how to have a model (editable polgon) and also have different parts of the model with different levels of smoothness. Do u do it sort of the same way u can apply materials to certain polgons? I always just detatch them and add another smooth groups. Hmmmm. Does anyonje know if its even possible to have multiple smooth groups.

lmfao tork. Its sort of a skater that has melted :P Its looking good and as I can see u are getting to know how to use nurms (don;t really use it in games modelling but still good to learn)

It's mister Soft from the SoftMint Advert (Britain a while back, not sure if it was on in america)

keep practicing your getting better my friend :D

ye to say he just started he doing alright. I can remember my first model. It was the alien from the 3dbuzz tutorials. It rocked sooooo much. I am working on a f40 atm. So expect some l33t work from me :P Nar I am having problems because my image plans are not mathathically acurate. So having to model it from pictures. Its kinda hard but looks smooooth as ****.
