Well fry's called me up and i got to go for an interview on monday. Anybody have any tips? this is my first interview and im nervous as ****!

Don't screw up. I just had my first interview 4 weeks ago. I got the job because I didn't screw up. k? gg hf

Just be relaxed, be yourself, appear enthusiastic and all that.

I had my first job interview today, though it was extremely informal and brief... but I got the job, so I guess I did it right.

It's all that sex appeal you have!

Just walk in and say "I'm too sexy for my shirt, too sexy for my shirt, too sexy for my --" and by then they will have said "you're hired, as long as you keep your shirt on!"

Uuhm, seriously? Dress proper. Like fitting for your work area. If you're going to work in an office put on a nice suit, while there's no point for that if you're going to go for an interview at a builders.

yeah whats frys first of all? a restaurant chain or sumit? just be enthusiastic, appear interested, they will prolly ask you why would like to work for us etc? so just prepare some bs answer that sounds good. Basically tell them what they want to hear. It'll prolly be very informal and brief anyway like ennui said about his interview

Dont fold your arms. If you have to do something with your hands, keep them still in your lap.

Maintain eye contact, but dont overdo it.

Be confident, but not cocky.

Good luck!

Fry's Electronics http://www.outpost.com/

Its a super electronics store. They sell anything to do with Conputers and electronics. Each store across the US has a theme. In Houston its Oil riddicks.
In los angelas its a future theme.. i think. I have a friend that works in the houston one and he said they rake in millions of USD a week.

...there's no theme for Fry's in dallas. Ours are just big and brown. Fry's is cool, its like a retail newegg...many computer parts. Sadly alot of their merchandise is faulty for some reason.

Ennui what type of job is that?

anyway congrats :)

Like I mentioned in a previous thread, they will be doing observations (though the interviewer might not realise themselves)

Shirt and Tie
You put an effort to appear enthusiastic about the interview

Handshake

Shoes
Wearing shoes is essential if you are going to a formal interview. You can't rule out the interviewer making a scan of the body, so having polished shoes gives you extra marks

Shaven
This is important in the interview, especially if the job entails you to work directly with customers

Time Keeping
Appearing early for an interview will mean you are punctual

Facial Expressions
I believe this is the hardest for me, I try to smile, but it keeps on feeling like I'm making a wierd face. But yes, smile. If you have glasses, puch them all the way up your nose (having glasses hanging off the edge of you nose gives the impression you are tired or dowsy)

Be prepared for questions
Beyond the simple questions, such as times available for work, they may ask you questions about the store or your enthusiasm in working for the store.

Favourite questions generally brought up:
-Why do you want to work at this store?
-What do you feel you can bring to this store?
-Have you done any activities that involved you having to work as a team?
-What do you feel is required to bring good customer service?

I screwed up one question which was, "What do you think is required to improve the stores image?"

I just wanted to expand a bit on DEATH's list of questions: there isn't a right answer for any of them. They are used as a screening mechanism to weed out dummies who can't articulate a comprehensible answer. If you are good at doing this, you are golden, if you are like some of us, you might be in trouble.

Thats why I don't generally like to work retail, because it requires you to be articulate.

I am capable of being intelligent, but I need time to think about what I am going to say.
