I hope this isn't in the wrong place but has anyone else here played Joint Ops? It is a really great game to play online, it's addictive like drugs (sorry for bad comparison) and I recommend giving it a try.

Yes, I think this is the wrong place. put it in just the regular games forum.

And no, where is it?

It was the precursor for Battlefield 2. Two teams in the Modern Pacific theatre battling for capture points with vehicles etc.

I played the demo years ago. It was fun enough, but didn't last me long.

Yes. In addition to what Javert said:

Joint Operations is a battle between two teams (The Joint Ops [Blue] and the Indonesian Rebels [Red]). You must take over CPs (Command Posts) in order to win the game. The CPs are named using the NATO Phonetic Alphabet. (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo etc.) The team that holds the most bases by the end of the time limit wins (You automatically win if you command all CPs). There is a vast array of weapons, vehicles, and characters to choose from.

Yes. It still attracts thousands of players everyday. Make sure to go on the US server as most players use it.

Sounds like every control game I've ever played.

Pretty much. Make sure you are cautious as to what server you go onto because if it's too crowded you'll get lag.

I used to play Joint Ops. Lost the disc ages ago though. I remember it being awesome in the 150-player servers.

I always liked how you didn't have to 'use' a helicopter to get in, you just simply jumped inside and that was it, you could freely run around a chinook while it was flying, and there was no weird stuttering or anything like that. More games should have that really...

Technology wise, even though it is substantially older, it is in many ways far superior to BF2. Although the gameplay wasn't great...

...and that's where BF2 beats it into a bloody pulp.

:O

Was a fun game, haven't played in so long.

I personally loved 150+ player servers at night, using night vision and shit was so cool.

That it is. I haven't played it in awhile either. I think I should get back into it.

Jimmeh - Yes that is fun. Only problem is when your shooting out the chooper and you take one step to far...out into the water 2.41 miles away from land...

(Yes I did do this once, I couldn't :sniper: swim that far :sniper: take life anymore so I killed myself.

I played it religously for 2 years. They have a great mod for it called International Conflict now.

Last time I checked they took the 150 player servers down, only 100 player ones now. :( I remember when they tested 200 players ones, now that was insane. Great fun, especially when the huge maps go from day to night. The maps are huge, like 4 islands with villages and stuff on.

Great game! :D

Will this game be the one to bring HL2.net together before Left 4 Dead comes out?

Will this game be the one to bring HL2.net together before Left 4 Dead comes out?

Lol... No.

The game's quite a few years old now.
Nothing can bring back the HL2.net clan, tbh.

CS:S still gets played by us every now and again.
BF2, not so much.
BF2142, not at all.

Meh... I doubt L4D will be able to bring us back together either, considering servers won't hold many players.

All the popular mp games are full of whiners and lamers. :(

Apart from Worms Armageddon! :D

Worms World Party is where it is really at!

Insurgency looks like a corker of a mod, can't wait. :D
