I have the demo of joint ops and it says that the recommended requirements are 512mb ram, DX9.0b (i installed DX9.0c), 266 MHz DDR (PC2100) or better, AGP 4X, Pentium 4 2.4 GHZ equivalent.

My comp is in sig.

My problem is that i only get about 30fps when im playing on all normal settings. Ive installed catalyst 4.8 and it says the 9800 pro is a compatible card. Why are my fps so low?

Probably because your AMD 64 doesn't run well together with the software. That's my guess anyway. You might want to try diskfrag (I should do that myself actually). Above that I don't really know... Seeing as how you got the latest drivers and all.

My 3.0 ghz Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro, 1x512mb runs it like no other with everything set to high.

Just like to add one of the best multiplayer games I have played in a while.

Do you have vsync on?

JO is a system slug... It doesnt really matter whether you got a P4 1.8 or an A64 3.5, its just as slow in most cases.

To improve performance, the only thing I can suggest is setting shadows to low or disable them completely.

Check for Vsync in the control panel, D3D options. If its on it will cut your FPS by half as long as its not over your monitor frequency (for example if you have 80hz and Vsync on, you will have 40 fps even if you reach 79 in reality.

Diskfrag is found under Start - Configurations - Control Panel - Then go for the last of the options in the list on the top. I suck at XP interface/layout.

Anyway, what it does is it puts all the files *on the actual HD* together so that it doesn't have to look all over because the file's spread. It usually happens when you install something, then install something else, uninstall the first program, and install a bigger one. Then the latest installed program will be split in two covering the black spot of the first installed program and the rest of itself on the other side of the second installed program.

Hope it wasn't too messy. If you haven't done it for a long time and you've tried a lot of software, it could improve performance by maybe 40% (HD speed). Generally it's a 10% or something increase, it's highly noticble.

hmm well while i was browsing through some of the tabs in setting-advanced i came across 'SMARTGART" and there is a part that has APG settings (mine says its off).....shouldnt it be at 8X???? would this improve fps and quality?

Hehe
CPUs don't have compatibility issues like that with software.
