This is a gorgeous game that I feel deserves it's own thread. It's being developed by that thatgamecompany (flOw, Flower), and is set for release sometime in 2011. Here's an overview of what is currently known:

With Journey, thatgamecompany (TGC) continues its tradition of delivering simple gameplay and accessible controls in a rich interactive environment that invites players to explore and experience emotional chords that are still uncommon in video games.

An exotic adventure with a more serious tone, Journey presents TGC’s unique vision of an online adventure experience. Awakening in an unknown world, the player walks, glides, and flies through a vast and awe-inspiring landscape, while discovering the history of an ancient, mysterious civilization along the way.

Journey’s innovative approach to online play encourages players to explore this environment with strangers who cross their path from time to time. By traveling together, they can re-shape the experience – creating authentic moments they will remember and discuss with others.

Key Features:

Intuitive controls and experience – Players with differing skill levels and/or moods can experience the game at their own pace.
Lush and expansive environments – Grand landscapes filled with dynamic sand and cloth. Fully simulated sand dunes ripple and slide as players move across them.
Fresh online adventure – Players explore a mysterious world, discovering its hidden history. People are free to travel alone, or adventure with strangers that they meet along the way.

What does this mean in actual gameplay terms? How do you code an "authentic moment?"

Looks nice though.

Yeah, I'd rather play Modern Warfare man!

The irony didn't escape me either :)

I haven't played Flow yet, but Flower has been a highlight of this gen for me.

I am also sold!

Very interesting. I'm down. Flower was good enough for me that I'll hop on board without question.

And to think I thought they could not top Flower! This looks extremely interesting. Reminds me of SotC in a way. I am loving the minimalist approach that some of the more creative developers are taking. Just brilliant imho.

Here is an AWESOME first look:

And the PS Blog has posted the new official trailer here.

Seriously one of my top 5 games for next year. Looks amazing. The desolation and interaction with strangers reminds me of the unparalleled Demons Souls online experience. Brilliant stuff. I wonder if they are collaborating with Naughty Dog on the sand physics. :p

HOLY DOGSHIT--those ****ers just blocked the preview vid which was GORGEOUS. UGH--I am really hating the idea IP laws right now.

This is the only PS3 game I want to have on my PC.

I haven't played Flow or Flower, but this looks really interesting to me.

Kinda looks like windwaker... In a good way. Very creative graphic style. I like it.

So what will the gameplay be like? Will it just be exploring and finding clues? Or will there be puzzles, or traps to avoid? I'm not familiar with this type of game, but I like the thought of a video game where you don't have to defeat, or kill someone/something. It seems more interesting.
