I am having a time getting my Thrustmaster Top Gun Pro joystick to be recognized to play half life 2. When I get in the game and try to set buttons, it is as tho the joystick is not even connected. Yet it works fine for other games and when I check the properties all the buttons are working fine. I've checked the joystick box.

Anyone have some much needed advice?

Many thanks for any ideas,
Markus

Advice? Yes. Don't use a joystick for a FPS game. Especially an assmaster 2000 or whatever. I mean seriously, what is wrong with you? It's like asking if you can drive your car with a popsicle stick, or complaining because your spoon isn't compatible with your steak. Joysticks are good for car / flight sims, and not much else. Including FPS games. If you just HAVE to use a joystick, I advise selling your PC and buying a console.

And before anyone claims I'm being mean / not trying to help:

I am absolutely fu*king serious. I am not trying to be funny or mean.

That doesn't mean you're helping :p

Let me look up a program that may help you.

EDIT: Here, I found an older thread that lists a number of possible solutions: Link

Thanks for the link

Hey, thanks for the link. Looks like lots of possible help there. Re using a joystick vs. a gamepad in fps, guess I just like the control it gives me, especially with the new twist joysticks. But imagine it is all personal preference.

I have a Saitek Rumblepad 2600 gamepad that I also use with hl2, but it doesn't seem to always work as it should either. Am still trying to track down the problem, and this link looks like it may help with it as well.

Thanks again,
Markus
