Joystiq had the chance to get their hands on Left 4 Dead at the recent European press event in London. Like others, they played the New Orleans campaign.

As we said during E3, the game plays identically to original. There isn't even a particularly noticeable graphics upgrade, if you ignore the dismemberment improvements. Is that a bad thing? Of course not. A bad game is a bad thing. This is just a good game, made again. With new characters, levels and some new features -- such as melee weapons and special infected.

Left 4 Dead 2 will be shown and playable in ComicCon, in a couple of weeks. In the meanwhile you can read the full Joystiq preview here.

WOW! They got to play Left 4 Dead!!! ;)
The preview was again nothing new, just re-elaborating on stuff we have already been told. I get the feeling with these interviews and previews that we are almost trying to be convinced that the game is going to be good. I personally have no doubts about it but I think it's a bit pathetic.

Will the game be good? Yes.. as good as left 4 dead is..
Is it a fully fleged sequal? Hell no!

thanks for posting exactly same thing in every l4d2 thread

if this l4d2 was actually a DLC like on far cry 2 and priced 4,99€-14,99€ i would understand but like they said: "This is just a good game, made again" just makes me sick :sniper:

Making up facts before even playing or seeing the final game? Hell yes!

But it has a frying pan! Wouldn't you rather use a frying pan than right-click or even use your gun? Plus it's a Valve game and we should pay $50. :p Just trust them!

Does anyone think that maybe Valve just really like the number 2 and must have it on the end of any of their games so it motivates them to better themselves from the first?

I'm sure it will be as good as the first if not a lot better. Yes it's a shame they are making it a sequel and so soon but it's what they have decided to do and I'm sure it will be worth it.

Of course the game looks good. It's just not too overly impressive nor does it offer anything substantially new.
I'll probably get it once the price drops to $20 or below. I sure as hell am not going to pay $50+ for a few upgrades and new maps.

Same here.

Was it intended to be fully fledged like HL2, persay, with 70 million dollars and 6 years spent to develope it? NO

We'll see what happens. I'm still not really getting my hopes up for this one, although if reception is good when released maybe I'll rent it or something.

Then why make it? Why make a sequal that uses the same assest's as the original? If you cant make it better then why do it at all?

And im not making my statements up thank you.. I'm basing them on whaat ive seen and read.. you know im right but you keep trying to justify valvles decision like they can do no wrong.. I'll still buy the game but the whole idea just stinks of them trying to cash in the games success..

I fear valve may be springing a leak and are plugging it with EA..

1) Your arguments will have much more respect once you spell and punctuate properly.
2) This game has so much more content than Left 4 Dead it's quite unbelievable. Off the bat it has 5 campaigns, more special infected (which probably aren't designed for L4D1 maps, mind you), many more weapons, melee weapons, a new game type, Survival mode and Versus from all campaigns at the start, more advanced AI director, new characters, etc. How it can be argued that this content is unworthy of its own game is beyond me.

Yeah but sheepo the graphics are the same.

Why don't you complain about the Half-Life Episodes? EP1 used the same assets from Half-Life 2, the Citadel and City 17 felt horribly recycled. There are making things better for L4D2 just like Valve have made the Episodes better it's just that the improvements between release are minor.

Why would he complain about the Episodes? They were never labeled as full fledged sequels nor were they overpriced.
They are expansion packs at best and so is this.
