Judderyness, small freezes (not frame rate drop)

I experience random small freezes whilst playing the game, the game would be running at 60 fps then quick freeze then back to 60 fps, mainly when you walk around a corner or something new appears on the screen, but i'm not experiencing low fps runs. Its getting very annoying and ruining the game.

System spec: Athlon 2800+ XP
Radeon 9800 Pro
512 Mb Ram

I've tried the Omega drivers and the new 4.12 beta, the 4.12 runs better than the omega, but I really shouldnt be getting these "judders", Doom 3 runs flawlessly on high.

buy ram; 512 is hardly enough

Same happened to me with 1024. After closing all open programs it took care of it, so I believe it is indeed a ram issue.
