I've read that a few PCI-Express Motherboards are coming out on June 21 along with the ATI X800 PCI-E 16x. Does anyone know if these are all intel pci-express mobos or are any of the mobos being released 939s with pci-express. I know this has been discussed before but im just asking this because I was planning on ordering my computer tomarrow and I was wondering if I should just wait another week and see what comes out.

So whats the deal with PCI express really? Is it going to be faster than AGP? If so how much of a difference will we see? And I hope to have my computer built pretty soon to play alot of new games that are coming out, should I go for PCI express or wait till' they work the bugs out?

Well from what I read from previous posts videos cards are just starting to almost use the full potential of 8x agp. Pci-express is faster but you won't be finding any video cards using the full potential of that this summer.

I just want to know if that the 939s with pci-express ARE coming out June 21 other wise if the release them in september I don't need to wait.

You should wait and see the benchmarks with PCI Express vs AGP.

AGP will be sold for a while after still. It does a good job.

You will probably notice a bit more of a difference than 4x to 8x since the design is not holding it back. But still nothing to wait for. They would be just different in number not the experience.
Performance is not the reason you would want to go with PCI Express just yet. Future gfx card upgrades might be though. ;)

Intel is launching their platform and new socket on that date. AMD's chipset partners should be releasing some chips with PCI Express not too far behind.

So does that mean with in the next week or two we could be expecting some 939s with PCI-Express, or is the PCI-Express with 939s for sure coming out September or later. I just don't want to buy a PC this week and find out next week that theres a socket 939 mobo with PCI-Express.

Seeing as I still don't even have an AGP mobo yet (thanks a lot dell) I guess I'm not gonna worry about pci-e.

the S939 mobo's are set for September? That can't be right surely? With S939 chips already out?

I am also wondering if this PCI-E will be on a S939.

Well i've read the that S939 mobos with PCI-E were due out for June 1 but the Via chipset place delayed the release till Q3 of 2004, I read that but that's why I am making this post I want to know if any other chipset makers will want to compete with the Intel June 21st release and put out there chipset that would be really nice.

ill take a benchmark of it comparing it to a p4p800 deluxe if u want...dunno how much of a comparison that is but whatever

Thanks for the info but I'd rather wait about a year or maybe a year and a half before I buy that. Price is too much.
