just a problem with games

i just formatted my computer, and i still have the same problem. games are just choppy, like if i move around its very choppy and if i dont move around npc's and everything else in general is choppy. i downloaded the cod2 demo to test this out seeing as i havent insatalled any of my other games yet (but when i did have them installed the same problem occured). and on the black screen where they say your mission it was even very slowed down as to the writing that was displayed.

any drivers i havent installed or info on this. i have dx 9.0c installed, nvidia newest drivers installed.


specs are

1 gig ram
nvidia 6800 (factory overclocked)
athlon 64 3000


and the reason i really want this :sniper:fixed:sniper: , is for oblivions release in 9 days

i should also just add though, that i installed the older driver i got with the video card first and then the newest one and it has a slight increase in performance, but still unplayable so maybe it isnt the graphics card that is the problem??? also, i was also playing a web game which had no good graphics hardly at all, and it was slower on my computer and faster on my other computer which has way lower specs than this one. just thought i would add that in. thx.

Whats your CPU speed?
6800 are very powerful cards so I wont say its the card but drivers.
When you updated driver did you uninstall old driver, reboot, disable anti-virus and then install new driver?
Also try updating sound driver by the same processes.
Defrag disk.
Update windows.
If you OC that 3000+ try backing off a little.

ok i reinstalled my video card drivers and i got the slightest (if i can really tell) increrase, but the game is still VERY unplayable. i reduced all the settings to the minimum, still very unplayable. i finally put it in directx 7 mode, and its playable. like wtf i cant play with dx7 graphics with a 6800 so any info on what could fix it now?




also when i installed my drivers when i formatted my computer i left these out are they any important?!

See if you can update DX7 to DX9 now. Maybe DX9 was somehow corrupted, and yes 6800 do support DX7.

no i do have dx9.0c, but it can run in dx7 mode in the game and thats what i used. u think im missing some sort of cpu/ram driver ir something?

Make sure you do all the Windows Update (except SP2).

No your CPU and RAM don't need you to install drivers for them, Your BIOS is the driver. And as long you CPU and RAM are comparable with yar MOBO, your done.

DX9 you had uninstalled could be corrupted try reinstalling DX9 and see what happens.

Also:
