is it illegal to obtain a copy by either purcasing a pirated version, or downloading a game that you already own, but say the CD is scratched or damaged?

it was when i found my old Total annihilation CD it was scratched to hell, it works though!!! im amazed. i guess the dont make CDs like they used to eh?

i suppose if you bought it, you own it legally so downloading it incase you've got a damaged cd is alright as far as i'm concerened or care

I dont think there is anything wrong with obtaining pirated versions of software if you legally own it, but I am not sure if the law agrees.

You might be able to contact the publisher for a replacement, i think, if you send off the scratched cd. Check on their website/the cd package.
