Does anyone else think that the Barnacle Gun from Opposing Force would've been an awesome addition to HL2, or should be an awesome addition to any future expansion packs, what with the physics engine and such?


I mean, wouldn't it be cool if there was a Combine soldier in a catwalk across you, and you hit a precise shot with the barnacle gun, straight at his chest. The barnacle pulls him off the catwalk, he goes hanging down the chasm beneath, and is then pulled up and eaten whole by the Barnacle. Maybe there could also be some physics puzzles involving it, or something.


Okay, I just noticed how bad an idea that is. Ah...whatever, I'll post it anyway to see what you think.

Well...I never really used the barnacle gun, except for on Sven Co-Op...Even then I couldn't kill any enemies...

But yes, it sounds cool to think of a combine soldier to be pulled off the catwalk..

But you should play to the END of HL2...Then you get SOMETHING like that...It won't eat them whole though...

According to the original preview in PC Gamer ages ago, it was going to be in HL2. I dunno if it was cut, or if it was just typical of PC Gamer's fairly inaccurate HL2 information (calling Vortigaunts "Vortigons", stating that we'd play as Alyx, saying that the Striders were drivable, things like that).
