Hey amazing thought alert. Well its fairly interesting

You know in the kleiner video. (i havent hacked it and i cant take a screen shot for some reason)
There is a Scaner on the table with the monitor that gets shoved off. Well those things hover. Kleiner is on about polerizers or whatever. Do you think he is trying to create some kind of anti gravity device. ALA GRAVITY GUN!


Just an idea. Discuss! :D
 
Its possible, but why would that be so destructive agains the combine....unless its maybe a bigger version or something.....
 
Like i said, its just an idea. But I see you point. And why would she need to swallow something. Maybe they are trying to make her fly lol. Who knows!

In the video, alyx says to Dr Kleiner "Are you sure you dont want me to swallow the poloriser?" (I cant spell it, maybe thats the problem :p)

Alyx says "Are you sure you don't want me to swap out the polariser(sp?)" not swallow.

I believe she says "Swap out the polarizers".

If you ask me - and frankly, you could do worse - that whole scene they're trying to set up some kind of escape device, ie: teleport escape route...
As for the scanner...I have a feeling that scene'll be later on in the game by which time you'll already have the manipulator. But then you could also do far better than asking me so...

Who knows what the hell they are building, I think the stuff Dr. Kleiner and Alyx are talking about is a bunch of technical jargon just thrown in to make them sound intelligent.
 
yay, some serious replys. Interesting thoughts guys. And yes its quite likely its technical garbage, but still scaners hover and the manipulator makes things hover. Its just a theory :)
 
Maybe he was trying to hack into the scanners optical unit and get a direct feed to all the scanners in the city.

Crazy thoughts lol.
 
It's not a bad theory or anything they could be building the manipulator, but the way Alyx talks makes it sound like it is something much bigger than that.
 
crazie thoughts are beter than no thoughts at all. And i like that theory, its beter than some (dum de dum de dum)
 
If you remember, Alyx says something about "..striking against the combine.." maybe that's some sort of defense field against that big evil combine stuff that is eating the city? :)
 
That brings out the question, CAN you pick up dead scanners? (that would be cool)

Indeed but i have a better one. Can you pick up live/paralyzed scanners and somehow see what they see. IE:pick up scanner move it around a corner and see whats there? i dunno
 
or re-program a scanner and use it like a personal camera around the city... uhmmm :)

I think Dr. Kleiner is going to be the coolest NPC in the game (besides the G-man). He just makes me laugh in that video, don't ask me why.
 
Yeah I like it when Gordon push the monitor off the table and Dr.Kleiner goes "Ooh, do be careful!" :)
 
Yeah :) Perhaps because he's very calm, collected, and ultimately very polite?
Alyx seems pretty terrified and desperate and there's Dr. Kleiner pottering away in the background, totally unphased.
You knock over a piece of equipment (possibly expensive) he doesn't get pissed off: "Oh do be careful" Now THERE'S a gentleman.
Alyx is about to give herself an aneurysm when the scanners arrive, and Dr. Kleiner - dilligent fellow that he is - wants to keep working and then simply responds with "Oh fine." Calm in a crisis, that man.
Great guy. Champion of the scientific community everywhere.
 
And also frequently dead. :b
I'm predicting we can once again look to the NPCs for a little comic relief.
 
I dont like it when kleiner kinda snaps while hes reaching for the keyboard, I do hope that gets fixed :D
 
El_chi: hehe, yeah, you're right. Someone must have shoved him full of rohypnol or some other tranquilizer pills haha ;)
 
Direwolf: Yeah, I hope so. THere were some really funny events during HL concerning either Barneys or scientist. Or both :D
