Just a warning - this is another fake.

rofl this is so funny, fake emails, rumors and speculation about delays, its like watching a soap opera! AND I HATE DAYTIME TV!!! :(

"Australian IP's. Maybe he was using is laptop on a visit to Oz?" will be the true believers next remark.

I'm still waiting to see what will happen on the 30th.

You see, this is what makes me believe its a hoax - the one sent by Doug. I just hope that webmasters checked the heading very very well before posting it. If Doug's email is indeed a hoax, this could possibly be the exact same guy that made that one, yet to now really stir shit up in the community.

the webmasters should just POST the entire e-mail as is on the site.. so we can all see

Wow... so many twists and turns, I don't know what to believe anymore. All I can say is I hope THIS e-mail is real.

It's not - psycho_byte on IRC and a few others said that it was from Asia Pacific.

What if like, Gabe and stuff, were like, somewhere in Asia Pacific? You know, for secretiviv purposes and stuph! Whoahr!!%?#@

Well ya know what....it does make sense. I mean the PR in Tokyo is 2 days away...

Valve wouldn't do this to us guys! You think six days from the release they realize they've forgotten to make to make six maps and the engine? Of course not! If they realize anything now, it's that they've forgotten to make a screenshot button or something like that. "Sorry, but we can't have the game done today (since they'd need it to go gold real quick), but maybe you can have it in three months? How's that for you? Of course we can't promise anything." That's basically what the e-mail says. Either it's fake or Doug is really trying to piss the community off. If it was real, there would (and should) be an 18 paragraph apology in there!

Once again: I refuse to believe Valve would do this to us!

Notice: ASIA PACIFIC

IF it's from Asia Pacific, then maybe Gabe is in Tokyo? Seeming the PR thingy is in a few days, it's more than possible. Who in their right mind would travel to Tokyo on Friday to leave later that day? :)

This is very probable, please don't flame - just stating obvious facts.

nope thats an Australian ISP (internode)

although I feel strangly tempted to messenger spam that email

:D

Yea, crap. I overlooked that. This one does seem originiated in Australia. If thats the case, then lets raise the hype bar on Doug's email to be a hoax as well. But don't 100% quote me that its a hoax.

A valid point, but I think we should just accept it; Half-Life 2 is delayed.

Yes that does make sense. You have just brought some mild hope into my life lol...

that was from the FAKE gabe email posted on HL2Central.net

ahhh ok

damnit wont someone post the header for the Doug email......

The unrealops.com guy says that he got an email from Doug... maybe we can ask the unrealops person to post the headers

go go junior detectives!

this is kinda cool to watch in motion. keep it up fellas!

1) Asia Pacific Origin
2) Tokyo thingy on Friday
3) Insane traveling from USA to Tokyo for 1 day then leaving same day

Please add it up... there's a high chance it isn't fake... i mean - whats the meaner joke:

Telling it's delayed? Or telling that it isn't?

well i think that if the 'delay' email was fake, then the correction email would have been sent to all the major sites. not just one guy on some obscure internet forum.

ahh yes very true... i don't understand that - *sigh* I JUST WANT THE GAAAAME :(

rofl what is so funny is how worked up people are over this game, so much that they trace ip's to validate emails etc lol I want the game too but damn people why dont you all chip in a dollar and all hire a private detective that could find out the truth! :)

I just emailed Steve over at Shacknews to see if he could send me Doug's email header. If he does, we'll know in VERY short time if this whole delay thing is a hoax or not. And what stirred it up being a hoax - is this recently sent Gabe email with him replying by saying it was indeed a hoax. We'll see.

so basically we can just conclude that not much of what is going on makes much sense, and most likely, the game is not delayed; you'd figure that several of the Valve staff would give out e-mails if it were delayed, or better, a PR

Another idea, why not just friggin call valve hq and ask if gabe is there and if not, is he away at the e3 in tokyo? Put all this nonsense to rest once and for all.

Yea, but it would be kinda discouraing if Gabe sent a simple email stating "No, Doug was right...it is delayed.." Then sh** would hit the fan.

Could do that, but I don't feel like having a Seatlle # on my phone bill. I could always just dial 1-800-callatt
lol

Yeah, valves e-mail server was down thats why they didn't notify the masses, what a joke. There is no chance thats the case, hopefully Valve will either backup the delay or let us know for sure that the game is Gold. Why doesn't Valve have an official Half-Life 2 site up to post internal news and press releases? That would make sense, or even post news about HL2 on steampowered.net Anyone?
