If you read this Rage3d IRC chat log with the ATI developers:

Near the bottom catalyst says "Half Life 2 is going to be the BIGGEST game that you guys have seen" and then fifth line from the bottom he says "Keep your eyes on www.ati.com on October 8th for the BIG one".

Do you reckon this could be...??? :cheese:

(or have I completely missed the point and is he talking about Cat 3.8)

he is talking about the catalyst 3.8 drivers, which will be out october 8th.

yeah they say cat 3.8 is gonna be the biggest improvement ever made to catalyst series, so it should be neat. ati cards already kick ass for halflfie2, now they will be even faster

Great, 3.7 have problems. AA and anso dont turn on unless u reboot or are using a res higher than 1024x768.

my aa/af works at 1024 without rebooting... have you reported the issue to ati?

Oh well, it was a nice try...

Reading that IRC log though I don't think Cat 3.8 are goung to be much faster - they said that they've been concentrating on features now that they have the stability they want. All I can say is roll on mid November!

you should goto rage3d.com forum and report the bug to either one of the catalyst beta testers or report the bug right to ati, theres a thingy linked from rage3d forum to do it.

cause if no one reports it then it cant very well be fixed can it?

I had issues with the 3.7 drivers in JKIII. The light sourcing was all fux'd. Had to go back to the 3.6 cats. Hope 3.8 is an improvement over the 3.7.
