Just Cause 2 'Freedom' Trailer

First one wasn't that great after the first mission, hope this one makes up for the mistakes of the original.

Looks awesome. Basically part 1 but bigger and (hopefully) better. I found the gameplay in the first game a little too clunky and basic. Aside from the stunts ofc.

If this game is even half as awesome as it looks, it will be one of the most kickass open world action games ever. I really hope it won't disappoint.

Looks like it'll be better then the first.

Ah who am I kidding, this looks god damn awesome.

Coming from Eidos Interactive and Avalanche Studios in 2010: Gmod Rope: THE GAME!

FREEDOM to shoot a rope between two objects!

FREEDOM to shoot a rope between...uh...MORE objects!

FREEDOM to bungee around with said rope!

FREEDOM to get fooled by our trailer just like you did with the first game!

Published by Square Enix, a company known for QUALITY.

FREEDOM to play Grand Theft Far Cry

My thoughts exactly.

In my opinion it really manages to recreate the over the top nature of 80's action movies into video game form. (Commando comes to mind)

EDIT: FREEDOM to ignore Darkside

Darkside is right, first one is terrible but the trailers made it look amazing.

Also, the cow, no you shouldn't play the original. It was really bad, and the story was about as strong and well-written as Borderlands.

Now, keeping that video in mind, recall that the trailer for that game was almost scene-by-scene the same as the trailer for Just Cause 2. There was the sequence where he leaps from car to car, the scene where he takes a jet out for a spin (he parachutes onto it), there was a scene where he grips the front of a chopper and hauls himself in, a scene where he mows down some stuff with a bazooka, a scene where he snipes a guy, and a pan out revealing the map.

It's the same trailer, and the first game was butts. Complete and utter butts. They're showing me the same trailer with a bungee cord and telling me I can "Go anywhere, do anything," but if it's the same as last time...

I second darkside here, I remember the media for the first was pretty much exactly the same.

I never bothered to buy or play the final version of the predecessor but I read the reviews which seemed to correlate my impresions of the demo: a generic tps with simplistic and unengaging combat with weak AI BUT the parachute gimmick although a gimmick is REALLY cool :)

Yah yah we all know the first was shite. Maybe this won't be as bad. Maybe it will deliver on some of what the trailer promises. If not, some other developer should make a game that does!

That video actually doesn't make me feel too bad about it. It looks like the exact same thing yeah, but what that says to me is that they simply were focusing on getting the gameplay to work better, rather than trying to be overly ambitious in changing it up more.

Still going to wait for reviews since I can be wrong, but I still have high hopes.

"A generic tps with simplistic and unengaging combat with weak AI BUT the destructible buildings gimmick although a gimmick is REALLY cool."

Hmm what game does that sound like.

Although what really astounded me from that video is how stupid the AI seemed to be. They were just standing there waiting to be shot.

Red faction? I didnt even think the destructible buildings gimmick was that good tbh.

My point was that a gimmick can make all the difference. In Red Faction if you take away the physics and destructible buildings you are left with a mediocre game, generic story and pretty bad AI.

So by that logic Just Cause 2 could be fun (IMO) if the "gimmicks"(grappling hook, parachute) are implemented well. Also having the game constructed around those mechanics, encouraging the player to use them in clever ways in order to complete the mission.

My fear is that you'll be able to bulldoze your way through anything without having to resort to any clever acrobatics, rendering those "gimmicks" redundant.

Oh right I see your point; I just didn't see it cos I wasn't a fan of red faction really :P
