I downloaded the demo of this game and I was like... wow. It's amazing. You can parachute off the back of moving cars as they go over a cliff.

Tis a GTA-a-like set on a tropical island for those not in the know. PC Gamer UK has been harping on about it for some time now, and I can see why. The sense of "cool" is amazing. From the demo, which admittedly chugged a bit on my PC (time for an upgrade), it's not easy to see whether it'll beat GTA but it'll definitely be a worthy adversary.

The two problems I could find were the cars being a bit twitchy when driven using WASD, moreso than they are on GTA. And as the cars have a better sense of speed than most driving games, this could be the game's downfall. Also, the weapon system is pretty weird. To open the weapon switch menu, you scroll the mouse wheel (like HL) but you must keep scrolling in the direction you wish to select or it automatically chooses the highlighted weapon. This is especially confusing as the weapons go from left to right whereas the mouse wheel is up and down. (You'll understand when you see it). A similar system occurs when firing the weapon. You click once to raise the weapon, then again to shoot it. If you don't click, or move ever so slightly, the weapon drops back to your side. It's frustrating.

Despite these two seemingly game-breaking faults, they don't make the experience any worse and I could recommend the game to anyone.
The demo is on most good websites, but here is a Gamershell link for the lazy.

Oh, and before I forget, explosions are amazing fun. A grenade is practically a nuke.
